One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Beautiful damsel Kyra (Amy Smart) comes in and hires Leo Falloon (Brent Butt) to find her missing video game designer brother Milles Severeign. The problem is that he's not actually a private detective. He's really a specialty products salesman. Ernie (David Koechner) is his friend. He's taken with the beauty and accepts the case. He finds a dead body. Kyra seduces him to continue investigating. Reese Horn (Kirsten Prout) claims to be Milles' girlfriend. The directing is strictly unimpressive TV production level style. The humor is dead panned from Brent Butt. He's not a big performer and that holds this back. In his show, he's more or less a regular nobody. He's perfectly likable but he's not cinematic enough. It's a low grade movie with some light humor.

This film tells the story of a salesman who gets mistaken to be a private investigator. He is hired to investigate the disappearance of a famous computer game programmer. Hilarity ensues when he is clearly out of his depth for the increasingly complicated crime."No Clue" is really quite entertaining because the main character, Leo, is clearly unintelligent. His responses are silly for the situations he encounters, as he has no clue what he's doing. Yet the woman hiring him send to have no clue about his incompetence either. The whole premise is funny and at the same time suspenseful and mysterious. The mystery is maintained even through the numerous jokes. When the ending reveals what really happened, I think the plot is quite clever in making many characters suspects, but only one is the real crook. I enjoyed watching it.

I like all |Canadian movies. I enjoy anything with Brett Butt starring in all things Canadian. So this movie was a perfect combination of Canadian movie with Brett Butt starring in a Canadian movie. The acting of all the actors was really good. I think we have a superior talent pool in Canada. I also think that Brett Butt is very comedic. Seven more lines of text to go. If I were more acquainted with the private detective genre of the 50's, I am sure there are references to movies of this time era. The gumshoe, is the correct word I think. So he played the part perfectly. So did his friend, David Koechner. Of course the diner scene always makes me think of Corner Gas. Enjoyable light hearted fluffy entertainment. Why not?

Alright, listen up. Or read up, since you're reading. And since you can read, that should mean your ability to process words is working. That's actually a good start. This is a very funny movie- and no, Brent Butt is not going to win any acting awards, but his delivery as an unsophisticated but clever novelty salesperson mistaken for a Dick is perfect. Amy Smart as the damsel with more to her story is the perfect straight-man to Leo's bumbling, and I liked Kechner as his friend a funny soundboard. And for fans of Corner Gas, Brent's other half is funny and very Wanda-esque. And for those who aren't Corner Gas fans, don't watch. Your sense of humor isn't properly suited for this film.
