what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Extremely dissatisfying and ultimately a waste of time. Slow moving with no real purpose, and too many unanswered questions. Give this one a miss.

I have been a fan of this movie for many years now, and it's the first I've seen that uses the reality TV angle in a slasher movie, although not a fresh idea anymore but at the time it was. The story line which I found was pretty solid and creates mood and tension the entire way through. The house was genuinely creepy which makes the perfect setting and the snowy outside was eerie as well.Okay this movie may take a while to kick off, but it still kept me interested with the surprise twists and turns and the interesting cast when they interact with each other kept me hooked the entire way through. But there are a few small flaws like some the gaping plot holes and some things that didn't quite make sense and why would anyone in their right mind stay in a house in the middle of nowhere for 6 months, for something that would be obviously fake. But other than that this movie still packs a punch especially when the true intentions are revealed at the end and comes fast and thick and the creative camera angles and split screens was used to good effect.Laura Regan was spot on as the obvious final girl, and found her likable and believable while displaying her moods and emotions. Sean Johnson was unfortunately the more underplayed and underused cast members in this movie, but he did a pretty okay job. Jennifer Sky was simply stunning and fun and can act as well, which is always a bonus. Stephen O'Reily gave a credible performance as the unofficial leader of the group, he quickly becomes more interesting as the movie goes on and Kris Lemche as the rebel of the group acted really well as the unlikeable and selfish member of the group. All in all "My Little Eye" is an interesting addition to the horror genre that fully kicks in and becomes really brutal towards the end, with some awesome kills and a cool creepy house.

With every trend, more trends will follow in suit. So, when reality TV shows flooded the market, it was only right that films based on reality TV shows would come next, and they did. 'My Little Eye,' along with such films as 'Series 7,' 'Wrong Turn 2,' etc., are some of those trend-followers.In 'My Little Eye,' five people are chosen to live together for six months in an isolated house, 'Big Brother'-style. The prize: $1 million. The rule: No one's allowed to leave, and if someone does, everyone loses. As morals & wills are tested, the 'show' becomes more & more demanding. To add to their many issues, the cast begins to sense a presence in the home from more than just their housemates. . .Like many of the great horrors over the decades, 'My Little Eye' brings together a few of the best elements available: Paranoia, voyeurism, claustrophobia, suspense. . . At its core, it may be nothing more than a simple slasher-type film, but it does manage to move beyond that with its different style and tone. Technically, it's above-average. The direction & cinematography work well most of the time (though, sometimes, the out-of-focus shots are just plain annoying) and I find it to be a smart move to use this style as it quite clearly would save some money. The writing is fairly good, though the dialogue gets a bit unrealistic at times. The acting, for the most part, is reasonable, though I was unimpressed at times, especially with the work of Sean Johnson (Matt). Regardless, the film does work fairly well and delivers some real scares throughout. It's not "the scariest film since 'The Exorcist'" as the box says, but fans looking for a scary modern horror/thriller should definitely give 'My Little Eye' a look.Final Verdict: 6.5/10.-AP3-

My Little Eye tells the story of a group of young people who have decided to live together for several months in an isolated, snowbound house and have their lives broadcast on the internet. They believe they're participating in an internet reality show. If they all make it for six months, they win 1 million dollars each. If anyone gives up and leaves the house, they all lose.Right from the start a creepy mood is established. There's the feeling that something just isn't right with their situation. The voyeuristic views through various web-cams help to create the uneasiness. This movie is very silent, gray and brooding with lots of disconcerting camera angles. The viewer has a sense of foreboding that something horrible is going to happen. As the contest begins to wind down, things start to get a little surreal. The food shipments that would mysteriously arrive in a box at their front door are suddenly empty or contain bizarre items that raise a lot of questions and concerns. A mysterious visitor happens by the house and also raises a lot of good questions about the legitimacy of the "game" they're participating in.Spoilers ahead! As it turns out, they've been unwittingly recruited as the stars of a snuff film that's being broadcast live on the internet. People are actually subscribing to the site to bet on who will be killed first. It also turns out that one of the house-mates has been in on the game all along...or at least he thinks he is. Things go from silent and brooding to terrifying in a matter of minutes as the house-mates realize their predicament. This is a wonderful change of pace and really keeps the viewer on edge until the end of the film.Yes, some of the characters are a little predictable and one-dimensional. Overall though, this movie offers a lot more character development than most horror movies. The acting and writing is not always brilliant, but it's much better than expected from a B-movie like this. The end of the film is where it falls down a bit. All along the movie has almost seemed a little too real. As the killings start, it starts to become more of a B-grade slasher movie; this pulls the viewer out of the eerie reality that had been created. Also, many of the house-mates fall prey to the standard "stupid decision" horror movie clichés. This is not to say the conclusion is bad, it's just not great like the first three quarters of the movie.Despite an ending that doesn't live up to the rest of the film, this one is still well worth watching. If you like psychological scares, My Little Eye will stick with you for quite a while.
