It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

My Best Friend's Girl (2008): Dir: Howard Deutch / Cast: Dane Cook, Kate Hudson, Jason Biggs, Alec Baldwin, Diora Baird: Painful romantic comedy about temptation. Hopefully thoughtful males will avoid the temptation of treating their dates to this form of entertainment. Dane Cook is enlisted by his best friend to heal his broken relationship by becoming a bad date thus allowing her to reflect back on him. Problem is that they fall for each other. Directed by Howard Deutch who previously made The Whole Ten Yards as well as low grade junk such as The Odd Couple 2 and The Replacements. Concept is conniving before Cook and Kate Hudson are sent through predictable circumstances concluding with a restaurant scene that falls flat in desperation. That particular scene sabotages any potential the leads could have mustered due to its contrivance. Jason Biggs plays his friend whose communication is off but he eventually becomes a predictable prop. Alec Baldwin plays Cook's father as the most interesting subject in the film. His methods have passed down to Cook but it is he that is stealing the moment, not the star. Diora Baird plays Hudson's sister and evidently she was also one of Cook's failed dates. That cannot be a good opening when approaching Hudson. The message is thwarted due to its mean spirited delivery that plays much like Cook's date life here, and that is truly depressing. Score: 3 ½ / 10

I hated everything about this film. The casting was awful and the characters deserved to be hated. Thats not something I say lightly. Alexis is a total bi**h. She treats Dustin like crap and somehow its OK but when he treats her like anything less than perfectly shes outraged and make the traditional romantic drama "victim woman".Then there is the ending where Dustin is pawned off with Alexis' roommate Ami. Now I don't know about you but I would never hook up with someone who could be friends with a girl who treated me like sh*t. I have to say that I hated this film worse than "How to lose a Guy in 10 days" which was pretty bad.

Tank (Dane Cook) has an ugly side business to take woman out to horrible dates. Guys hire him to take their ex-girlfriends out so that they appreciate them. Dustin (Jason Biggs) is a nice guy in love with co-worker Alexis (Kate Hudson). When she just wants to be friends, he hires his roommate/friend Tank. It doesn't go as planned. She convinces herself to do the douche to appreciate Dustin and he finds himself falling for her. She wants to start over as friends with Dustin. It's a true morality crisis for Tank as he sleeps with Alexis behind Dustin's back. And his father (Alec Baldwin) doesn't exactly help.Dane Cook is terribly annoying. So he fits this character very well. I don't like him as an actor usual but he is completely this guy. He just works in this movie. Parts of this is funny. Other parts are awkwardly unfunny. It's very uneven. The problem is when it's not funny, it's annoying. It's also hard to settle on the romance part. Dane is not exactly the romantic lead unless the movie forces it.

Gee what a surprise. Bad acting job for Ms. Hudson. Another Hollywood buffoon that would be nowhere near Hollywood, if she did not have a relative in the industry. This movie gets a 2 because it had a creative plot. A little offbeat from normal romance comedies.Thats where it ends. Basically a story about a guy that has his best friend date the girl he is trying to woo , an overly vulgar Dane Cook, thus the hope that nebush Jason Biggs looks like the real prize. Obviously , most of us understand where the plot is going from here.. Like we could not see it coming from a thousand miles away lmao. This film was not funny, badly acted and just seemed like it was thrown together like a Hurricane knocks around debris. This was an uneven film that is on the dubious list of films that just did not need to be made. The soundtrack was great , but nothing else was. Horrible comedy, that just makes those that watched the whole thing look stupid. Save your time folks.
