One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

The trailer was really cool, made this seem like a sci-fi action movie with a really intriguing concept. The concept was intriguing but it was not sci-fi or action. The trailer was very misleading. It was mostly boring as dirt, and was very random. Movie was all over the place, plot was barely there, this SEEMED to have an anti-technology "science has gone too far!" theme but it was impossible to tell. Random bits were thrown all over, bad acting. This movie just sucked. Don't let the one positive review fool you, if you want a philosophy lecture or discussion of the brain and consciousness or whatever, watch a lecture, not this bad movie. A lecture would be far more interesting. I love a cerebral, complex even difficult movie but this wasn't that, just bad.

If you're interested in Philosophy of Mind and Consciousness Studies you'll love this flick. Plot is somewhat non-linear and mirrors the right brained eschatology of the films climax. If you're a passive movie watcher expecting to be spoon fed entertainment you will be disappointed.

The biggest mistake was to give into the marketing hype of collective cognition bands on the day of the world premier that would be given to the audience and results would be shown live after the movie to see the brain mapping (which didn't happen). The movie has nothing to do with the experiment, the story, the plot-line is bizarrely vague and made no sense.Everything was a rip off, marketing gimmick to sell this movie which even Sam O Neil couldn't have carried on his shoulders, the producers knew that this movie would be a huge huge disaster and the only way to make money would be create an unrealistic hype to justify selling the tickets 20 bucks a pop.The story is meaningless, acting was worse than B grade movies, the graphics were cheap, there is absolutely nothing praise worthy about this film.

Mindgamers was a huge let down for me. The movie was entirely way too long for such a simple premise, and I yawned through more than half the film. The technology is amazing, and I loved all of the ideas and possibilities that can/will come from it. The biggest let down was that I wasn't a part of the experiment, although it seemed that I would be when I paid as much as I did. The trailers were very misleading. I feel as though everything I saw in the theater was something I could have fully enjoyed in a five minute video on youtube. Thanks a lot Fathom, my birthday sucked.
