lovemormonism Meet the Mormons is a 2014 American documentary film directed by Blair Treu and produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The film documents the lives of six devout Mormons living in the United States, Costa Rica, and Nepal. The LDS Church donated all net proceeds from the theatrical release of film to the American Red Cross.The film features Jermaine Sullivan, "The Bishop", and his family. Sullivan is an African-American who is an academic counselor at the University of Phoenix. He was bishop of a ward in Atlanta, Georgia when the film was made, and now serves as a stake president. The film also covers Sullivan's wife and children. Darius Gray was among the associates of Sullivan interviewed."The Coach", Ken Niumatalolo, head football coach at the United States Naval Academy."The Fighter", Carolina Muñoz Marin, an MMA fighter from Costa Rica who had a chance to go pro international, but she and her husband decided it would separate their family too much."The Humanitarian", Bishnu Adhikari, a man from Nepal, with a degree in engineering who is the country director for Choice Humanitarian in Nepal. The organization works to improve the living situation in rural parts of Nepal."The Candy Bomber", Gail Halvorsen."The Missionary Mom", Dawn Armstrong, her story is chronicled from the birth of a son when she was a teenager, abandonment by his biological father, meeting her current husband - who had both her oldest son and her deceased next oldest son sealed to him when they were married in the temple, to her oldest son leaving to serve as a mission.It is good to be a Mormon and to respect and estimate every person and every religion from Judaism To Islam.

g-73545 During the movie the viewers are exposed to the day-to-day life of these individuals and how they balance family church and other activities. These six individuals carry six very different and interesting lives.This documentary is not necessarily trying to make everyone who watches it become a Mormon, someone who is not religious could watch this film and end it wanting to be a better person. Though the cast does not have any well-known actors/actresses they are still able to present their lives in an appropriately respectable manner. In the beginning, we are shown Jenna Jones interviewing random people on the street. Many associate Mormons as white people who live in Utah. Though by the end of the movie we are shown six many different lives and their genuine responses to the questions asked about being a Mormon. Every story affected the viewer emotionally in a different way. One thing I took away from this documentary was that everyone is a human, no matter what race, religion, and nationality we are all the children of God, as Mormons would put it. We're all yearning for the same thing, we all want to be happy and live in peace. I really enjoyed this movie because it shows many different sides of this religion and its people. It also destroys stereotypes surrounding being a Mormon.

marrisarmiento52 Great film on the culture and beliefs of this Christian Community that expands world wide. Stories of faith, virtue and knowledge is lacking in todays "media society", but you will find it here in this movie. True moving stories told by the actual people. No actors, no horror, no violence, no sex, no adult language, nothing offensive about this film. There are no Academy Awards to be nominated here, but there are some hearts that will be won. Such inspiring, heart felt and courageous events that turned into "Life". Very refreshing to have a film out there that is for all ages. If you haven't seen it yet, go see!!! Definitely a Popcorn Family Movie Night!!!

Joe Ham Wow, what a fantastic Film!! It answers a lot of the misconceptions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon"/LDS Church) by taking a look into the lives of six (6) Latter-day Saint Families. The individuals chosen to be spotlighted show just a portion of the variety of members of the LDS faith, but does, in great deal do justice to the variety of people who are members of this church. They follow the family of and LDS Bishop in Atlanta, GA; the family of an MMA trainer in Costa Rica; the family of the United States Naval Academy's Head Football Coach; a WWII Veteran known as the Candy-Bomber for his efforts during the Berlin Airlift; a Humanitarian and the mother of an LDS missionary. All in all, it gives the viewer a closer look at what members of our faith are faced with, and what they do for their communities. If you have questions about what we believe, definitely recommend seeing this film!
