This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Before I get into the review, I wanna say I actually watched this film twice.
The first time I turned it off after 45 mins because it was too boring. The second time I survived the whole film, but that was only because my little sister watched it too. (well I say watched it but she was practically asleep)
The film was DIRE. I mean it.
But in all honesty, it wasn't as bad as I imagined.
It came in the same 4pk of rubbish family DVDs as The Adventures of Chris Fable, aka The Wylds (check my review on that), and that was the true worst movie of all time. Anyone who says this is the worst just hasn't dug deep enough in the Walmart bargain bin, or the cheap DVDs section of Tesco if you're from the UK (like me). Anyway...
The film wasn't as bad as I expected.
Sure, it was shockingly put together, the dialogue is awful, the audio and visuals aren't synched, the cast has a number of false names *cough* JACK BAKER *cough* and the budget is probably about seventeen bucks. But it wasn't terrible - I actually found some of the characters sort of likeable. And the sets and costumes weren't horribly made considering the budget. Unlike when I watched Chris Fable, I didn't feel a strange urge to do a 1,000° knife on my telly. Instead I actually wanted to sit and watch it to see if it got any worse. It didn't, actually. It was a poor, poor film, but it wasn't as abysmal as I expected.
I think it'd go perfectly as a kids' morning movie on POP (UK) or Nickelodeon or something, I don't know.My Sister's Thoughts:Err...ok?
Btw this IS me- his lil' sis' - writing this.
Sooo, it wasn't the best someone could do...more like someone just said, 'Hey people I haz chezburger...
LET'S MAKE A FILM!,' rip headphone users even though it didn't make any noise... -_-
so, yes, wasn't the best. For me it was too long and yet people like me are so critical about long things even though we secretly are using films like this as an excuse to lie down and be lazy...(plz don't hurt meh)
ANYWAY,
overall it is dire and stupid and a poorly put together film, but lets actually take some time to appreciate how much work and effort these people (even if they're fake *cough, cough* thingy I forgot name...*does google* ohhh, Jack Baker and things *cough, cough*) took to make something for all of us and we just criticise it.
err, what to say now? ohh..yeeee..
let us see!
I thoroughly wasted an hour twenty minutes of my valuable life to watch something dat's never gonna make a difference. I'd at least expect some semi-good morals from a movie as bad as that but it was just so disappointing in more ways than 1.
P.S- Teh broher saying to do the dabs on, 'how NOT to waste ur life on watching teh drek which happenings to be Max Magician & the legends of teh rings
P.P.S- I haz chezburgered... I also haz just realised dat max magician + the legend of the rings = kinda stolen name...

Someone bought me this DVD for Xmas about four years ago, and I never opened it or watched it until recently. Let's say I severely regretted doing so. I honestly should have chucked it unopened in the garbage bin after I came to this website and checked the reviews. Too bad I can't turn back time, like an hour and a half of it approximately.I hate to bash movies, but this one is begging for it. I have watched quite a few low budget movies, some of them being fantasy/sci-fi. The low production values are usually a little bit of a distraction, but a strong script and good acting can pick up the slack in other areas of the movie at least enough for me to enjoy it. That is SO not the case here.There are a few good things about the movie and I'll list them first so I won't seem 'biased'. 1. Whoever did the make-up did a fairly decent job. 2. Max is a cute kid 3. Fetch is hot and I love his accent and 4. The princess is very pretty. That's about it. Everything else was just god awful, the worse thing being the sound. It doesn't line up with the voices, the sound goes in and out, there are strange noises in the background, etc. The sound effects are also extremely cheesy. Basically it's a hot tranny mess all up in the sound department.The next worst thing is the special effects. I wouldn't call them 'special' by any means. I actually thought this was a much older movie because the effects make it look extremely dated. Whoever imposed the 'sparkles' on the film had a computer that was about 20 years old. Anybody, even my mother-in-law (who can't use a computer to save her life) who owns a recent computer, can make better special effects than what are shown in this movie. I kid you not.Next is the acting. Actually, I wouldn't call it that--I'd call it 'reading off of a poster board in the background'. This isn't the worst movie I've seen (though it makes the top 5) but in terms of acting ability, it is the only film I've ever seen where not one person in the film can talk like a real live human being. I swear they all sound like robots (which would have probably have made it a cooler movie).The plot--oh, I don't know--I have seen lamer plots, but this one is pretty bad. There is absolutely nothing original about it. It freely rips off ideas from much better movies--like Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, Star Wars, etc., but it most resembles The Neverending Story. It pains me to think of the wreck they made of my favorite childhood movie. I'll never be able to watch it in the same way again.All in all, this movie is really horrible and I beg you not to see it. Though, actually, I thought of another thing that was good about it. 5. It gives amateur filmmakers hope, because I can't think of anyone who could make a movie and do a worse job. Anybody, even someone who's never directed, acted or even seen a movie before could make a far superior film and have thousands upon thousands of DVD's created and placed in the bargain bin at Wal-Marts all over the country. I don't know how to act or direct but it might be worth it for me to make a low budget Merchant-Ivory type film. At least I know how to write a decent script and my computer is only a year old instead of 20. Just those two things would make my movie infinitely better than this one, and your amateur movie, no matter the genre or plot, would be an improvement on this one also.

Hello.I encourage anyone who has not seen the film to watch it and judge for yourself. It has the flavor of "Harry Potter"; "Lord of the Rings" and "Stuart Little". I played Tom T. Tot. I have been in the the acting business quite a while. I have found that there is a type of review you may need to be wary of - the one that is totally negative or abusive.It turns out that sometimes other film makers or actors who are jealous, deliberately write bad reviews to make their competition look bad. They realize their product is not as good and they "poison the well" before anyone has had time to drink. I get no residuals or perks and I am not afraid of criticism.Anytime I watch the film, I am entertained. My understanding is that when the market was canvassed it was well received by 8 to 10 year olds, especially girls. Younger folk like it as well. I enjoyed making the film. I will not comment on my own performance, other than to say the director & writer were pleased and it makes me nervous watching me play this frenetic character - but that was the whole idea anyway. In general, I am told I am most kids' favorite character. I appreciate that because I work hard to entertain. Parents have told me that their kids re-watch it. What greater praise can a actor who does a kid's film receive than that the person with the least longest attention span, is so entertained, that they want to see the film again. But you watch it and judge for yourself.I am not going to comment on every actor, but I think Tim & Princess are very good and the mouse is very entertaining. The prosthetic make-up is superb. The plot is cohesive. The film quality is good, if not better than many other independent films I have seen. The fight scenes are well choreographed and believable. Although the other make-up is good and the acting in general gives the film a storybook feel. Hey it is a kid's film! The special effects are primitive but highly effective. I think it is the adults that want all the bells and whistles but the kids are satisfied with the simple and let their imagination do the rest.Note: The Queen & Tim's mother are not the same actress as some have alleged. The sound was "recorded" live and then re-dubbed two times. It turns out the sound "engineer" delivered a product of which nearly all of it was unusable. He never received a screen credit it was so bad. After we dubbed in the sound, then we had to do it again because someone lost/deleted the copy. For something that has been dubbed twice, I think it is a spectacular job.Your continued "balanced" comments about my performance and the film are welcome. If anyone would like to offer some constructive criticism as to how I could have performed better or what I should have done differently, I am all ears (pun intended).

...but, one of the most enjoyable movie-watching experiences ever! We watched it the other night and I almost peed my pants.Yet, I have to ask, why was this movie made? Even though it looks like they only spent about $50.00 to make it, there is no way it could have made money. And, it's not like it is a contribution to cinema. The paper that the script was written on would have been put to better use in a gas station bathroom than actually using it to make a movie. Who thought it would be a good idea to have a character that spoke in stupid rhymes (Tom Tit Tot)? Did anyone else notice that they were too embarrassed to admit that the same "actress" played both the parts of the elf queen and Max's Mom? They credited "Jack Baker" as playing the elf queen. How ridiculous! That said, I just bought it on e-bay for $1.99, so I'll be watching it over and over again for years to come and subjecting all my friends to it.
