Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

You would think Netflix would have someone that can make a half decent fight choreography. Fight scenes are worst than kids in schoolyard

I knew nothing of this show and especially didn't know it was derived from a comic. I would see the title and keep going and I did so for about a year. The other night, nothing else was on and I selected it and I promise I binge-watched Season 1 and 2. LOL. Season 1 was decent and I was watching intensely because the 1st season sets the stage. It was interesting in that I read the comic is from back in the 70's but I love how the show reveals a modern adaptation of the comic. It works and it is refreshing. It isn't too outlandish in that you don't have people that are half person/half animal type stuff going on. There are some lines that are corny or cheesy but I accept it because it keeps the nostalgia of the dialogue from comics. I mean..it can be pretty cheesy at times. Season 2 was FIRE!!! My favorite being Bushmaster. Mustafa Shakir embodied that character so much it was crazy. I kept saying Bushmaster wants Mariah Dillard, oh I mean Mariah Stokes..(LOL) he wanted to kill her so bad he was bloodthirsty for her. I love the stories within stories. Misty and her issues, Luke and his issues, Tilda and her issues, Shades and his issues and so on and so forth. There are many layers, and plenty of conflict and Season 3 can only be better!!! I'm looking forward to Season 3!!! Sincerely, A new fan.

I actually created this account just to write this review. Im so dissapointed in the direction the series has been taken. I dont know if its a new director or new scripwriters but something has changed! For the worse. It starts of pretty good, it has a good way of drawing you back into that marvel series frame of mind and world that includes the other great characters they have to offer. But slowly the warning signs start to show. The biggest one right from the start was when Luke Cage declares the city is his and if anybody wants to test him for it they should come find him. He finishes off this statement with a dab. I just facepalmed my hand, seriously who actually wrote this. Who made this actor feel like that was a cool thing to add. And this series is just a big super sized bag of cheesy wotsits (what we have in the UK) lol it just dont stop. So many cheesy one liners. Akward acting between this love romance of shadez and mariah. Every second! there is a moment where shadez is thrusting his groin at her just to have a conversation. The list goes on.. But i will finish it with this. This has to be the worst on screen attempt of a jamaican accent i have seen to date. The actors attempts at patwa is horrendous but to be fair bushmaster and his uncle do a pretty good job so props for that but hearing misty knight saying "wagwaan" makes me want to turn this thing off. So in conclusion not at all good but if your already a fan of the previous then obviously you have to watch to keep up with the everyhthing. But seriously if i have to watch another unimaginitive and unwarranted random fight scene on a bridge or somewhere silly again im done. "Wagwaan" with you marvel -_- Peace

Originally the score was much high, season one of Luke Cage shined with brilliant ties into the comics and musical guest performances that intertwined beautifully with the story and the club scene simultaneously. So what did I hate about season 1? Not much. When Method Man was introduced to the story we find him introduced in such an inorganic and bizarre way then further integrated to the story in such an awkward way it can only be summed up with one word. Pandering. What happens in season 2? Less acts at the club and those amazing musical numbers although Kingfish gives us some truly magical moments. and in the very first episode? Welcome back pandering as we are greeted with a truly awkward montage with someone from the Jets for some reason why would this possible be there? Oh so we can name drop "Usain Bolt" FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON IN AWKWARD SCENES AND DIALOG!!
