Simply A Masterpiece

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

Ridiculous cautionary tale about two straight arrow kids trying to to the right thing and get married before playing hide the sausage in the spacious back seat of Tommy's rag top. They are so cute they don't even spend the night together after they get hitched. All that the film makers show is the dreary side of marriage and not anything about all the boinking they are both enjoying most likely a good part of their 24/7 week. Tommy trying to make ends meet even starts dealing in stolen cars one of which the newly weds are driving when they are chased by the cops. They go right over the edge of Mulholland Drive.

30 years after previously renting this from Blockbuster Video, I decided to once again watch this on YouTube. It stars Harold Lloyd Jr.-yes, the son of the famous silent film comedian-as Tommy Blaine, a teen mechanic who wants to save enough for medical school. Jana Lund is his girlfriend. One day, they decide to take the plunge after almost completely giving in to their passion. I'll stop there and just say this was quite an interesting capsule of how difficult it is to marry young before realizing of the responsibilities. Of course, the parents of each are of different classes. It probably ended all too pat but, what the heck, it's still pretty entertaining. So on that note, Married Too Young is worth a look for anyone interested in these vintage films. P.S. Ms. Lund had given Elvis Presley his first on-screen kiss in Loving You. Her mother was portrayed by Trudy Marshall who previously appeared with Laurel & Hardy in The Dancing Masters. And Marianna Hill is quite funny as Marla especially when she shakes her body to emphasize her assets!

"Serious" plot, but quite humorous throughout. Slang dialogue indicative of the early 1960's younger generation. You'll get a chuckle out of this one.
