Music is like perfume, because it evokes all sorts of emotions and souvenirs and experiences, maybe like the proustian madelaine. And as she says, citing a classic/traditional samba, "o samba è a tristeza que balança", that is: samba is sadness that cradles us. //I think in this documentary by Georges Gachot - who already did a marvelous job in portraying Martha Argerich, another remarkable woman for whom music is a passion - is pretty well done. Some might think she appears a bit as "nombrilist" because she talks about herself for almost two hours, while at a certain point she says that what she does with her voice is really the workings of God. She believes in God, and this might sound strange to those who don't.Still it is a way, IMHO, to step back and be thankful for what she can do and thereafter share with us. //Music is also very well portrayed, and listening is quite pleasant as it isn't always interrupted, one has the opportunity to let rhythm and harmonies reach beyond the skin level. Thank you!
