Best movie ever!

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

It is WONDERFUL. I think we will watch this every Christmas, it's better than Love Actually.

At times very uncomfortable and awkward, but well paced and with balanced emotional scenes

I mostly liked this film the first time round, but it took a second viewing to make me appreciate just how much fun it really is. Bell & Pegg are just so well matched, so much so you could hardly envision another pair performing in their parts. The story is typical, but all actors across the board, as well as all other parts of the production make it a timeless rom-com.. one that you actually gets smiles and chuckles from. It comes in several parts, and most all come together pretty well. The scene in the bar when he awkwardly meets his ex and her lover is one of the best.. and the ending although so 'hollywood-style' over-the-top typical, here ii does work, and makes it all come full circle. The rom-com field is littered with oh so many awful, dull works.. this fortunately is one actually doing some credit to the genre.

This is normally absolutely not the kind of movies I would go for. But you've got to give the wife something sometimes. And she likes her rom-coms every now and then. And if I'm honest I had a couple of laughs with Man Up. This Britisch rom-com is way better then the usual American ones with their forced humor. Okay the story is like what you expected to be. From the first minute you know the desperate single girl will find her companion for life and it doesn't really matter. With those kind of movies you know there will be some drama but in the end it will all end well. That's not even a spoiler because all rom-coms end like that. The thing that worked in this movie was the interaction between Simon Pegg and Lake Bell. It was funny to watch. And also the couple lines Rory Kinnear had. All in all I enjoyed watching Man Up, more then I thought I would.
