This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

All hot chocolate poured over cold steel.I know the concept, I write stories myself. This one? Underperforming. While the story premise held promise, and I expected something cute, this came in very low, a major disappointment. The girls are 'there' without really being made much of. They are just there, like they are filling in the positions set out for them. Not much zing to them. Okay, I hear ya, I hear ya, I am not trying to pretend to be some disaffected cool dude on this subject. I am far from that. Very far. I am grading against what I have seen in all my years (check out my list of DVDs in my collection if you go to my IMDb home page) and compared to rival Hollywood standards, nothing special about these girls. Nothing especially exciting. The camera-work doesn't do much to create buzz, hell, not even some tantalizing leg shots... okay, in the few cheerleader scenes, there was... But I'm talking about the sorority house...Let me tell you something else. They're also verging on sliding down the evolutionary ladder. Slacker attitudes. Post-modern attitudes re body piercing and tattoos. Hell, according to Roland, chewing bubble-gum is the symbol of declining attitudes in the modern world? I don't mind that. That's just some chewing. That could be spat out. No, look at the decline caused by, gee what am I gonna sum it up as? A sorta funky look. Yeah, that's it.That Kelli girl has a doll-face. And Monica I've been watching in other movies. Why would pretty things wanna besmirch their faces with crappy red designs that look like open sores? Ugh.Standards are slipping, people. Listen to this old guy. The zenith of excitement was the Nineties with the Soft Look. Now every adventurous girl is tattoo and body-piercing mad. Just one thing about that: HIGHLY UNATTRACTIVE, and attractive only to the lowest of the lower classes.Okay, after all that, now, to get back to the movie. I think, despite that this could have been something, Tommy must have seen the script and knew it wasn't exactly a wonderful project, and he took it to supplement his income. Okay, there is also having to come and work every day with lotsa young people around. But this movie... Hell, people, that bad it ain't, BUT think about what this could have been. Could have been. But is not. And, for those of you who don't agree, LOOK AT IT AGAIN. Burt Reynolds in CLOUD 9, hoo boy, I zapped that one here on IMDb too, but WHEN IT CAME TO PRETTY GIRLS, THAT ONE KNEW THE MAGIC KEY!Yeah, compare it to CLOUD 9. And weep.I rest my case.

I didn't know what to expect with Man of the House, didn't know if it was going to be good or bad. But I figured when I was renting movies, what the heck? Tommy Lee Jones is an awesome actor and I would be interested in seeing him in a comedy, even a cheesy one if it was that. While this certainly wasn't the comedy of 2005, it was a good and fun one that I'm sure you'll get a couple of laughs out of it. The cheerleaders teaching the ranger how to calm down and relax was cute, and the ranger trying to restrain them from going out and having a social life was the best! Roland Sharp is a stick to the book type of ranger in Texas. He's a hard working man who has lost his wife in a nasty divorce and is also loosing his daughter by never listening to her or being with her. But when 5 ditzy girlie-girl cheerleaders witness a case breaking murder, Roland must protect their lives. They must all live in a house together, but that's gonna be hard considering how different they are. But they end up teaching each other when to stay serious and when to lighten up a bit.Man of the House was a good fun comedy that deserves a look if you are interested in mindless entertainment. Tommy and Cedric were great in the film and worked so well together. Tommy was just great where I have never seen him in a comedy, so it was fun to see him just let go and see how versatile he could get with his career. Even though he's still has a serious role, he lets loose in the film and looked like he had fun with everyone. So, just let go with the stress, and relax with this film, you might find yourself enjoying it.6/10

This was a really good movie. It had me laughing throughout the whole thing. I loved the scene with Tommy lee Jones and Professor Mcarthy(Anne Archer). I think she could have had a bigger part though. But TLJ played his part so well and brought a lot to the movie. So did everybody including Anne Archer, for such a small part. I really enjoyed watching this movie, it had me laughing at times for a while. THis is a very good and silly movie to watch, and i definitely recommend it. But be in a good mood to watch it because you really need to be happy and silly to really appreciate this movie. I don't understand how this movie could get a bad Review, it just doesn't make sense. So go out and rent or by this movie, if your in the mood to have a laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this was chosen by my wife, but I loved it, my kids loved it,we all loved it.Tommy scores another top dog hit. This film has everything I like in a movie a good plot, Tommy Lee Jones, good music, good humour, cheerleader girls. It also has Texas cops heaps of pure fun You really feel it ain't just a "jelly mould" production churned out by a studio. This was made not just by computer by skilled people using talent to make it and it shows not a poor performance throughout for me this is an excellent movie and I shall go and buy the DVD as soon as is possible I recommend it to you allSteve
