One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

After getting into a heavy debt, socialite Bridget Cardigan gets a job as a janitor at the Federal Reserve Bank. She observes how they handle the bills scheduled for destruction and gets an idea how to sneak some of their money. She finds accomplices Nina (Queen Latifah) and Jackie (Katie Holmes) to sneak out large sums of money out on a regular basis. This is a fool proof plan, cos apparently, in this universe, there are no serial numbers or any other measures to identify stolen money.I like Diana Keaton. She's a very talented actress, and I would have thought this simple role would have been a piece of cake for her, but as a criminal mastermind, she really comes off as stupid and unbelievable. Partly because of the stupid plans her character executes, yes, but I gotta say - partly due to poor acting as well. It looks like she phoned this one in.Anyway, they escalate their crime further and include more accomplices - husbands and boyfriends - and greed keeps them in the game far longer than they had initially planned. But they keep at it as if it's the crime that simply cannot be caught. And Katie Holmes' character apparently has spider senses which tingle when danger lurks - seriously, they avoid their plan one day because she got a bad feeling, and it turned out that they had a surprise inspection that day, which could have got them caught. In one scene towards the end, she has a Wile E. Coyote style contraption set up to destroy evidence at her house. I don't know what they were aiming at with this character. The premise is ridiculous, and the characters'are just not persuasive. Especially their greed that makes them want to keep going at this - It just got way too surreal too fast.

I loved this movie! It brings a SMILE to your face. Isn't it one of the most important missions of cinema as an art ? (Apart from making you dream that your craziest dreams my come true too?!) Naïf ? No. Just relaxed and happy. It also made me discover Katie Holmes ! Never got attracted by any news regarding her or any movie she participated in. Yes, I'm probably late on this "discovery"... But did you too NOTICE the way she DANCES all through the movie ?! FANTASTIC! I WISH I COULD MOVE LIKE HER ! :-) To me, as they call it here in Italy, it was "ciliegina sulla torta" :-)Complimenti to director and scriptwriters !

Bloody awful! A career low-light for Diane Keaton - what was she doing in this? I understand there are not enough solid roles available for "serious" actresses - but this poorly written and even worse acted heist comedy should have been avoided at all costs by any top actresses - especially former Oscar Winners!I typically enjoy heist movies - dramatic or comic - but this film was so weakly plotted it took all the fun out of it. The only thing worth while was the impetus for the heist - the current woeful economy we are all suffering through. That being said - don't throw away your precious dollars to rent this one. If you need a comic heist lift - pick up Woody Allen's classic, "Take the Money and Run". That one ALWAYS delivers!

Three women who handle money thats to be destroyed pull off a robbery and then complications set in. Actually we know of the complications from the get go since it begins there and goes back...Good cast in a movie that isn't bad. Actually its a pleasant time killer, which completely surprised me because the reviews I had read had really lambasted this film. That the film works at all is testament to the three leads, Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes (how is correctly cast here unlike Batman Begins) and Queen Latifah. The three women and their supporting players make this good enough you wish it was better. As it is it's worth a look.
