DANG IT, I was NOT expecting to like this movie so much !!! I was expecting a car film (as Fast and Furious) and a wild crazy ride. Instead I got an incredible, (relatable) performance by every family member, education on the Lowrider culture and knowledge about the Hispanic pride and history behind it, and how we ALL must not lose our heritage (I could seriously put my Polish genetic history in here).....it is a film with MANY LEVELS that you simply MUST watch. You know how some films keep you thinking about the characters and their lives after you watch it???? THIS is DEFINEITELY ONE OF THOSE FILMS !!

I wasn't expecting such a good movie. Wow. The atmosphere pulls you in after the first few seconds. As a European I knew nothing about the lowrider culture, except there are those nice, funny, jumping cars. It was lovely to get a glimpse inside the lowriding culture. The acting is outstanding, the story is simple but has a heart and a message. With the narration thing the whole thing felt more realistic and added so much to the atmosphere. Loved this movie, worth watching!

I watched this at home on BluRay from my local library. Being a white guy who grew up in the deep south, the Lowrider culture of East L.A. is pretty far from my interests, but I found that part of it very interesting.I actually looked up this movie because of Melissa Benoist who plays a young photographer and becomes the girlfriend of Danny. Benoist had a starring role in the TV series "Glee" and currently stars as Supergirl in the TV series. She is cute and a good actress, but she is mostly wasted in her role here. The father has two sons, a younger one, Danny, still at home and an older one, 'Ghost', just getting out of prison. The younger one is a budding artist but mostly painting graffiti around L.A., often having to elude police. The older was imprisoned for theft, stealing parts for his lowrider. The story evolves into the relationships between the father and the two sons who blame him for the early death of their mother.Overall a worthwhile viewing.

A young street artist in East Los Angeles is caught between his father's obsession with lowrider car culture, his ex-felon brother and his need for self-expression. Lowriders is a film that i wanted to check out for some time now and mostly because of Melissa Benoist and honestly it did not disappoint, of course the film didn't go out without people criticizing it, it currently sits on a 55% on Rotten Tomatoes with a 67% on the Audience Score and a 5.7/10 here on IMDb and i highly disagree this isn't some kind of "Fast and the Furious" movie you won't see ridiculous car chase sequences or the Rock doing a spear in Vin Diesel it's not mindless fun it's actually a character study piece with some really great performances by Gabriel Chavarria (War for the Planet of the Apes), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage), Demian Bichir (Alien Covenant), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) and Eva Longoria (Harsh Times) the entire Cast gives some pretty good performances and each of them has a vision for example Miguel wants to reunite with his sons Danny and "Ghost", Lorelai wants her art to be recognized and Gloria simply wants her family united once again. You do get to see the Lowriding world and it's cars and it's quite beautiful to say the least but you also get a pretty heavy drama about 2nd chances and fatherhood and most important about love and art. It does have it's flaws like it dragged in certain moments and i wish that things went a bit better for certain characters but overall i really enjoyed it a lot and i loved the style that it had this wasn't another car chase thriller or whatever you wanna call it it was actually a pretty decent and smart drama with some pretty good performances by a talented cast of actors. (8/10)
