Absolutely Brilliant!

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Twenty years after, this Reyes classic still feels fresh. Thanks to witty dialogue, realistic scenario and good actors. Although the love story of the leads (Muhlach and Melendez ) have been dealt with countless times -- boy meets girl, family doesn't like girl, boy realizes he loves her-- this still is a joy to watch. Perhaps due to Reyes behind the screenplay or the actors' natural acting or maybe just the fact that there's no slaps, overly melodramatic confrontations, make this movie worth rewatching . On the downside, the marriage that came at the end of the movie feels too rushed. Aga realizing quickly he loves her and offering marriage maybe too 90s for today's audience. Looking back, this could very well be a prequel to "kasal, kasali, kasalo".
