LOST FAITH, A Joel Wynkoop Early Effort. This is one of Shot-On Video Icon Joel D. Wynkoop's first films and well it does itself proud. Filmed on TV NEWS type video,It looks good and doesn't show it's age as badly as one would guess. Filmed in Florida, gorgeous sets on location,The Island was a nice touch. The acting is all over the place,Wynkoop even as a Young Man is very comfortable in front of the camera and his martial arts skills were very entertaining in technique. The other people who acted may show some talent and others were JUST friends, who helped Wynkoop. Actually has a religious angle, and helps story move along to a logical conclusion. There is even a tribute fight scene to Lonewolf McQuade and I wish Wynkoop could have fought David Carradine or Chuck Norris (hey,He played a bad guy twice). This video is coming up to it's 15 year anniversary, maybe a DVD is coming next year.

Yay!! I'm the first person to leave a comment on Joel D. Wynkoop's Lost Faith! I'll cut right to the chase. As a serious piece of film and art, The movie fails badly!!! It's so stupid and silly!! It's GARBAGE!!!!!!! But that's not an insult because as a piece of garbage, this movie exceeds all expectations and then some!!!!!! If you're looking for the WORST karate film of all time, THIS IS THE FILM FOR YOU!!!!!! It's funny to watch a bunch of guys who obviously have no karate skills giving it their all in some of the most awful karate duals ever put on film.Joel D. Wynkoop wrote, produced, directed and starred in this movie. I guess you could say it's his labor of love. That's obvious as there's a lot of passion in this movie. Joel tried hard to make an Enter the Dragon type of film and I respect that. At least he tried!!You've gotta love a guy who loves martial arts films so much that he'll go out and make one of his own. The problem is that Joel really doesn't have a lot of talent. The fights are SO bad that they defy description. The actors border on ridiculous! And as CRAPPY as it all is, you can't help but get right behind Steve Nekoda (sp?) as he goes on his mission to that island to rescue his kidnapped wife and defeat the evil MASTER and his horde of goof-balls! I've had the chance to see a few of Joel's films lately and he's such a character that you can't help but love the guy. He is the Ed Wood of the acting profession. I wish their were more actors out there like Mr. Wynkoop because he keeps the viewer entertained.Yes sir, while Joel failed in his attempt to imitate Bruce Lee, he did succeed in keeping me (and a few friends) entertained. Lost Faith is the perfect film for a night of drinking with the buddies.BRING ON THE Sequel!!!!!!!!!
