Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Rainey Dawn The only things going for this film: Corey Feldman and a guest appearance from Tom Savini in the beginning - that's pretty much it.The film didn't hold my interest at all except for a couple of scenes with Feldman that I stopped fast-forwarding through to watch for him.Maybe I'm just getting old but the original "Lost Boys" is so much better and darker than this one. Yeah I'm biased I guess but I think my/our teen film "Lost Boys" is soooo much better than this newer teen film "The Tribe".This one is nothing but soft-porn for teens that can't act, a rip off story and extra bloody at times just to throw some fake blood on camera. Our "Lost Boys" had blood, one romantic love scene and a good story. No comparison at all.I highly recommend the original "Lost Boys" to vampire fans but not this film "The Tribe" (should be called "The Tripe" - yes it's that awful).2/10 - For Corey Feldman it gets an extra point.

nojlm I watched the uncut version once, and that was enough. It came off as a 90-minute conversation by 13-year-old boys in a middle school locker room.One gets the impression that there were a lot of rip-offs. Why does the leader of the tribe look like Lestat from the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice? Why is the monster makeup clearly a rip-off from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and indifferently applied to boot?Many questions are left unresolved: What was the young fellow whooping about when Frog drove off with him at the end of the movie? What criteria about the first kill is used to justify the total transformation of the hero? (The first kill criteria is peculiar to this story. If it exists anywhere else, I don't know of it.)Legends and Lore: Again, Anne Rice's novels provide the criteria. A primary rule in the Vampire Chronicles is that while feeding, you don't make a mess all over the place. That way you aren't constantly ruining your clothes. The Tribe certainly is sloppy in its feeding habits. Who does their laundry?I'll close my comments here by saying that "Lost Boys: The Tribe" is simply sloppy. Watch it to find out what it is all about (the preceding movie as well), then forget it unless you want to show it to gross out someone else.

GL84 After moving to a new town, a young man gets involved with the leader of a rebellious vampire clan after his sister gets turned into one forcing him to enlist a legendary vampire hunter to track them down and return her safely.This one was pretty decent though it did have some problems. One of the film's greatest parts here is the first half's rather fun telling of her transformation which is where it does have some good stuff in the gradual realization that they're dealing with vampires. The fact that this utilizes vampire lore fairly well in doing so, from the sudden super-strength and demonic voices to the initial feasting attempt that gets interrupted and showcases the traits of her growing condition using the mirror and crosses to fine effect here. While integrated nicely with the first encounter with the entertainer from the party where she gets accidentally impaled on the statue and explodes which really settles into the idea further of what's going on that he's stumbled upon a vampire clan, and after meeting the hunter fills him in on how it's built that really sets into motion what's going on. The build-up here from this into the second half here of how he tries to win over the group with some fine action scenes here, from the rather thrilling chase throughout town as they flaunt themselves around for the officers charging after them, a great group swarming scene at a night-time surfing session with some fine brawling here with the fight against the other vampires before setting up some fantastic set-pieces in the finale where he stalks the group down in their hideout where there's some great battling against the rest of the clan as well as the big final battle around the two which is really fun, and includes the great setting which is a dank, dark crypt which allows for some nice atmosphere. With the fantastic make-up and gore here helping this one to become slightly decent, there's enough to like here to hold this one up over its few flaws. The biggest is that it consisted far too much on a series of clichés which aren't the least bit interesting, from the lifestyle of the gang being into extreme sports or the laid-back surfer vibe which isn't exciting nor really makes the main villain someone that really should be fallen for. The different manners of behavior which indicate that are so lame and haphazardly written here that he comes off as a really pathetic villain, especially all the talk about the lead vampire being such a threat but turns out to be yet another pansy vampire looking for a bride like in so many of these kinds of films. The other problem comes from the rather weak plan for infiltrating the group, which doesn't make much sense. Not only does that require the fact that they're incapable of realizing the change has taken place when they did it to him in the first place, but also knowingly sends the guy into a coven full of vicious vampires that have already taken an interest in him from the previous party antics and simply accepting him in anyway just because his sister's involved with them, a plan that make this one seem quite lame at times. Still, this one is a lot of fun.Rated R: Extreme Graphic Violence, Extreme Graphic Language, Full Nudity, some sexual content and drug use.

steel_indigo The first Lost Boys wasn't really that much better than the sequel but popular because it was the first of its kind and had a good sound track and group of actors. It was campy horror like the first Fright Night. There is nothing strange about finding surfer vampires considering the first group were living in a cave off the ocean in a beach city in California. So by extension it made sense. These types of movies are never award winners but entertaining. Since it was made so long after the first one, times have changed and what viewers expect to see in movies is a little more graphic and I think that is why there were more sex scenes.Wiki says: "Hans Rodionoff originally wrote a script about surfing werewolves titled The Tribe which was turned down by studios including Warner Bros for its resemblance to The Lost Boys. Warner Bros studio executives changed their mind when they decided on a sequel, who then persuaded Rodionoff to alter the script as a sequel, including changing the werewolves of the original to vampires.The film was Warner Premiere's highest selling DVD release of 2008, performing so impressively that Warner immediately green-lit a third installment. It covered its 5 million dollar production cost in its first three weeks of release. As of January 2011, it has sold over 1,250,000 copies, a record for a direct to DVD release. Despite the success on the DVD, the film received poor reviews" So even though some of the reviews haven't been so good and some for the original weren't either, they did quite well. Adapting it from another type of story is where I think they went wrong. As for Corey Haim he had trouble with his past offenses in being able to be in the movie and why he was left to only do a cameo. It wasn't any fault of those associated to the movie because they had wanted him. He just wasn't able to comply.The movie is entertaining and if the Master Vampire died in the other movie it makes sense to me that it would leave the next down the line in that position. They never said they were born the way they are at any time. I have seen far worse vampire movies than this one and it was nice to see Corey Feldman recast in his role as Edgar Frog.
