Looney Tunes: Back in Action Audience Reviews

Cortechba Overrated
Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Irishchatter I remember watching this when it first came out on DVD. Even though I was a child then, I just wasn't a fan. The reason was because - it wasn't as good as Space Jam. I know we have Steve Martin, Brendan Fraser and Jenna Elfman on this and the fact that they are stars, but think realistically. The acting isn't really that great, yeah kids won't mind because of course, "Looney Tunes" is on the title. But what I'm saying is, it just isn't that good of a Looney Tunes movie.I am hoping that I hear news of it becoming a sequel in the future, I think this did all the damage in my opinion! If my future children want to see it, I would watch it no bother. I wouldn't be crazy over this, I would probably try to avoid looking at this again at all costs! :/
Python Hyena Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003): Dir: Joe Dante / Cast: Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, Steve Martin, Timothy Dalton, Heather Locklear: Candy-coated crap with a thread bare plot. It is nowhere near as imaginative as Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It opens with Daffy Duck being fired over a salary dispute over his second nature to Bugs Bunny. Brendan Fraser stars as a security guard and failed stunt guy who is also fired. He is the son of a spy actor who has been kidnapped. He must locate the Blue Monkey diamond before the ACME Corporation does. Jenna Elfman plays a studio head who must locate Daffy when her job is threatened. They foil ambushes by Yosamiti Sam, Wile E. Coyote, Marvin the Martian, Elmer Fudd, and the Tasmanian Devil. Repetitious and stupid with director Joe Dante doing his best but this is a far cry from what we expect from him. Dante previously made such superior films as Gremlins, so this is indeed a sorry sight. The cast are all second nature to the animated characters who themselves seem to be mugging the scene as oppose to becoming an important element of an actual plot. Fraser is a prop, and Elfman is miscast. Steve Martin overacts as the ACME head as does Timothy Dalton as Fraser's father. Heather Locklear plays a character named Dusty Tails, as if we didn't grasp the hint. As Daffy would say, "It's despicable." Score: 2 / 10
Lewis Baird Looney Tunes has been a favourite of mine since childhood, the slapstick humour has always been at a high standard. Looney Tunes Back In Action, was a hilarious adventure with a star studded cast. When it was first released I was worried that it would be a huge disappointment after the huge success of space jam. However I was completely wrong, the movie is brilliant, it is filled with hilarious jokes, brilliant action scenes, some very flash vehicles and an evil Steve Martin. This film really is a treat for the full family, it is something that someone of any age can watch. It definitely is very difficult to decide what genre this film is, it is certainly action and comedy but it also has elements of sci-fi, adventure and romance. The movie's storyline has of course been designed to fit all of our favourite looney tune characters in it, even though it can go of course at certain times, the storyline is pretty strong and has some very good ideas. Joe Dante's direction is brilliant, I think perhaps, the thing about this film is that if there was not Dante's direction then a other director might not be able to hide some of the flaws in the script. The movie is a really good adventure and really does keep hold of the looney tunes high class entertainment. However, there was something lacking from this movie, perhaps it was the fact that some of the brilliant characters like tweety bird and road runner didn't get that much screen time or maybe it was the anti-cimax finish? Overall this film is rated a 7 for me, it was a good reboot for the franchise but it was lacking something that I couldn't put my finger on particularly.
Theraxorterminate Call me nutty if you want but this was actually one my favorite movies when I was younger. It wasn't just fun but it's concept is just remarkably delightful to see our favorite cartoon characters come to life, just like the concept from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" I really miss this kind of view, it's much more entertaining than those horrible live action version of cartoons we've had these years and they ultimately fail to deliver the spark from their originality and the entertainment were pretty much crap. Now I know that LTBIA isn't exactly like those but it's just that I don't want this kind of concept to be forgotten and when I saw this movie once again after many years I was laughing out lout for the first time with the kind of wacky humor and entertainment from the characters of Looney Tunes always used to do.The presentation of the characters from LT is presented with respect without anything changed or destroying their personality. Although Daffy Duck is the most active character in this movie, in this movie Daffy want's to show us that he's more than just the secondary unlucky character. The other characters like Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd, Taz and others are also well presented. The acting might not be extraordinary but at least there wasn't any actor/character who made me cringe (or maybe Steve Martin's character can become excessive but at least not annoying) and that's a plus.OK it's true it doesn't have the most original story and why do I see reviewers not liking the parodies it delivered? I laughed so hard and it has one of the kind of parody concept I prefer. And the classical jokes? Come on I still find the original gags from the Looney Tunes they used to do many years ago amusing but there's more than the classical jokes. And also don't take this movie too seriously, but what I can see and appreciate is that this movie is showing one thing: Honesty. And I can tell you there is a lot of hidden humor that made me giggle a lot and as well as many wacky fun. I don't wan't to give you too much about this movie now or else I ruin your experience, but trust me it really is fun.If you had the trouble finding the nice kind of entertainment that does not try to be "hip" like those bad live action version of cartoons I mentioned? Then I'd recommend you seeing this. It's not only for children, adults can enjoy it as well.
