Legend Audience Reviews

XoWizIama Excellent adaptation.
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Janis One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
fredrik-lundholm-127-234666 I love Bladerunner, Steve Jackson's Bad Taste and Brain Dead, The Thing... I absolutely can't stand this movie. But it really makes me wish Ridley would have produced Lord of the rings like this, instead of Steve, using less cgi. The author and Ridley must have been intoxicated. 'Ciniastas' claiming this is a 9 or 10 are pretentious. The photo and production cannot cover up zero script, horribly direction. Nothing is left to the imagination here, hence not a "fantasy" movie. an epic fail. This review applies to the directors cut.
adonis98-743-186503 A young man must stop the Lord of Darkness from both destroying daylight and marrying the woman he loves. Where do i really begin with Legend? It has the magic, the spirit, the soul and definitely the heart of a real actual fairy tale and that perhaps is why some critics didn't appreciate it's beauty. Mia Sara, Tom Cruise and especially Tim Curry give excellent perfomances and go against type plus the special effects and make up? look fabulous for a 1985 film and in today's age? The film wouldn't work especially the world it has built. Definitely give it a chance!!!
balsarius If you have my review list, you might ask why the heck this movie in here at all.Answer is simple. I'm a complex human being who like fantasy and doesn't need sexual motivation to drive my cinematic experience. That admitted, I wish, Ferris Bueller's, girlfriend had gotten naked for this!Anyway, the setting is perfect for the D&D style crowd and the laughable pixie and elf foolishness is skillfully worked into a very interesting plot. The visuals are great, and Blixx, began my love affair with goblinoid races in fantasy.Tom whoever, was a good choice based on boyish but burly looks, but struggles to shake anything but his normal accent. Like his portrayal of, Lestat de Lioncourt, latter in his career, that is his one hamstring as an actor. Not that I disliked him in that role either. I dislike Scientology, so nuff said. However, for this film, he seemed to have all the right moves. (pun intended)The evil in this epic is epic and well done in any era of film. The lighting and shots made this possibly corny kid flick a darker more captivating tale on screen.I give it 10 stars because it all came together to work beautifully. This is another 80's film that if missing would leave a hole in the American psyche that would ruin the decade.
slightlymad22 Legend (1985)Plot In A Paragraph: Darkness (Tim Curry) plans to plunge a strange land into eternal night, by killing every unicorn in the world. Jack (Cruise) and his friends will do everything to save the world and princess Lilly (Mia Sara) who Darkness intends to make his wife from the hands of the evil monster. After releasing 4 movies in 1983, Cruise signed up for a big budget fantasy movie directed by Ridley Scott which wasn't released in the United States until 1986.Legend fails on just about every level for me. It just does not work. OK the sets are well done and I bet it looked great on the big screen back in 1985. Its no surprise gives director Ridley Scott is a perfectionist, who often goes to great leangths to make sure things look just right. But I'm not sure the movie knows what it wants to be. It plays like a Childs fairytale, but is just too dull and dreary to hold your attention. We have the great Tim Curry, under so much make up he could be played by anyone. Likewise our hero Jack, this is the dullest performance from Cruise so far. The charisma and personality he showed it his last movies is absent here. Mia Sara (whom I love in Ferris Bueller) is bland beyond belief.I didn't really care about anything that was happening in this movie, and it's a safe bet I'll probably never watch it again. Legend tanked at the box office grossing only $15 million at the domestic box office, on a budget of approx $24 million, to end the year the 56th highest grossing movie of 1986. Cruise disliked this movie so much, he often refused to talk about it for years. I doubt this movies failure bothered Cruise for long though, as a month after this opened, he was soaring to the top of the box office.
