Kottayam Kunjachan Audience Reviews

Alicia I love this movie so much
Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
PimpinAinttEasy Dear Dennis Joseph, in Kottayam Kunjachan, you created some truly memorable characters. Kunjachan is one of Mammuka's best roles, second only to Kuttapai in Sangham. He is at his best when he plays rowdy Christian characters. The basic plot is not that different from Yojimbo or Fistful of Dollars. A likable gangster(Mammooty) arrives in a village to reform himself but soon becomes entangled in a petty rivalry between two Christian families. The film was up to its neck in badass characters. Apart from Mamooty's Kunjachan, there was Sukumaran's Kora Chettan and Babu Antony as Jimmy Pappan.I watched this film in the theater as a kid. And I will never forget the scene where Sukumaran makes a wicked entry in a jeep with his gang of brothers. It was so badass. The theater erupted in laughter when they drove past the priest who intended to stop them from beating up Jimmy Papan's gang.I remember the director Suresh Babu saying in an interview that Hariharan, a maker of more sober films praised him after watching Kottayam Kunjachan.Anyway, I hope you write more scripts Dennis Joseph. You could give some of the new generation writers a run for their money.Best Regards, Pimpin.
Dinesh Vasudevan This is inarguably one of the greatest entertainment movies of all time. Mammootty has shown the class and skill which proves why he is considered one of the best actors of all time. Koottayam Kunjachan is a small time thug who is just out of jail. He is made to leave the Kottayam district by the local theologian and go to a place where his 'wild acts' are not heard. But he soon gets into trouble with a group of workers which makes him instantaneously famous. He gets to stay with a local devout played by Innocent who lives with his wife, played by K.P.S.C Lalitha, and two children, one of them played by Ranjini. He is tricked into doing things by Ranjini under the false pretension that she loves him. What happens next when he finds that she was using him is the base of the story. The story has very gripping subplots which thickens the main plots. The connection between parts of the film are very nicely handled which makes it a fast paced movie. The attraction of the movie is Mammootty who plays Kottayam Kunjachan. He has taken a kottayam accent and has delivered his dialogs with great panache. Mammootty's presentation of humor is just great in this movie. For a Malayalam movie lover this is a must watch. Hey I have watched this one at least 30 times ..
