I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Must be a lot of ten year old that gave this movie more than one star. I actually made it through this garbage but was left speechless, but this movie has it all. Terrible actors, terrible scripting, terrible effects, and more loopholes in the plot than you can count. I could sit here and pick this thing apart at the seams but its not worth wasting on more minute of my life on. Someone would have to pay me at least $100.00 to watch this P.O.S. again. They must have paid Bruce Boxleiter or whoever he is $200.00 bucks to star in this masterpiece. I like in the beginning how the plane explodes in a huge ball of fire and two seconds later the passengers are all walking around in the fuselage. This movie is not even laughable bad, its just fricking bad.

Despite the title and being an absolute rip-off of King Kong, this B-movie is pretty good. There are a number of awesome-looking creatures in the film. The story is sort of far-fetched but the jungle-adventure filming locations and actors Bruce Boxleitner and Rhett Giles' performances make the movie entertaining. The story is about a group of survivors of a passenger plane who try to find their way out while battling numerous creatures. I really love the creatures: a giant spider, man-eating plants, giant cave scorpions, flying reptiles, a giant gorilla (actually its a gigantic Bigfoot with abs) and although not creatures, a tribe of vicious natives. This are some of the few things that make this movie atrocious: the natives are plane survivors who crashed long ago??!! Are you kidding?!! That is stupid. Why can't it just be a tribe of religious Native Americans who lived in the Amazon Jungle? Simple as that. The second stupid thing about KOTLW is that the cave scorpions are afraid of camera flashes??!! OK, that makes a little sense, since they probably are adapted to live in caves, so the bright and sudden flashes hurt their eyes. 'The Lost World' has dinosaurs, prehistoric mammals and Native American and Ape Man tribes. But KOTLW has dragons??!! Dragons make this movie look like fantasy, rather than sci-fi and adventure and the giant 'gorilla' is just an over-sized monkey-man. The CGI for the monkey-man is blurry and I can see its face clearly, the animation for the giant cave scorpions could not be seen clearly, since scorpions are black and caves are pitch black. But despite the numerous flaws, King of the Lost World still makes a good sci-fi flick.

Nothing about this movie is exciting or clear; not the scenes, the characters, the plot line even. There is no characterization, no buy in to the folks who are a part of the "lost world". I can enjoy most any movie but this was difficult to even look at for the duration. Even for fans of b-grade fantasies or science fiction this movie does not provide entertainment. It was difficult to understand who the characters were or what was transpiring. The acting was flat or actually nonexistent as really 'acting' per se was absent. Additionally the special effects were cheesy and limited to say the least, reminding me of 1950's Japanese horror flicks.

This is about when an ape that is a so called "King" and rules his "Lost World" which is no more then trees, dirt bushes, and fake looking back grounds and hills. It starts off with a plane crashing, an explosion, then we find out the front of the plane is missing, which must have crashed with the full plane, and a little explosion that causes it to fly 2-300 miles away without leaving falling trees if it supposedly crashed through them. Then, the survivors encounter fake looking spiders, scorpions, man eating vines, and a 150 foot monkey that is the "King Of The Lost World" along with brain washing natives. It is pretty good except for the cgi effects and the nudity scene. It does include a few good actors, and of course, some bad actors (which is about 90 percent of the actors) Thus, creating a good rip-off of Doyle's novel and the King Kong movies.
