Never heard of this film beforehand but seen it as a 4 movie set for £5 and thought can't really go wrong paying £1.25 per film. Finally got round to watching this the other day and i didn't quite expect it to be as bad as it was. I now fully understand why it was so cheap.Everything in the movie was pretty horrible; the acting, the camera quality, the score (sounded like i was watching a 1970s porn movie I'm baffled as to how this became a 4 movie series thing. It's the only movie which has made me question my judgement in buying a DVD despite never hearing of the movie.Just avoid at all costs!

Following on from the likes of DEF BY TEMPTATION and LEPRECHAUN IN DA HOOD, KILLJOY is an all-black horror film from Charles Band's Full Moon Pictures. It's also an resolutely terrible film in every respect, in which the paucity of the budget is apparent in every aspect of the film-making. The calibre of the script is matched by the sheer awfulness of the cheapie CGI effects. The story is a predictable piece of guff in which a young student is bullied by members of a low-rent criminal gang. His revenge comes in the form of Killjoy, a maniac clown with magical powers who proceeds to transport his victims to his evil domain before killing them in various gratuitous and incredibly silly ways. It's amateur night all round here, with some of the most stilted acting you'll have seen in a while, although I admit seeing some of those lousy effects of characters burning up or disintegrating did give me a chuckle or two. Thus KILLJOY isn't the worst horror film after all, just a very poor one.

I am one of those people that loves a movie like this, not because of what it is, but because of what it could have been. In this day and age, when everything is getting a big budget reboot, why not throw some money at the writers and turn this into a good movie. The rough outlines of the plot are there, it's not actually a bad story. Just needs a little fleshing out, ya know? Imagine the story if the kills were exciting, and the characters a little less two dimensional. Also, Arthur Burghardt is absolutely brilliant as the homeless man, I think he had a lot of potential. All in all, on my list of "cheesie movies that I could love", this is an 8 out of 10 for me.

i really really liked this film. which was a big surprise judging by the trailer i saw and a lot of the negative comments here on IMDb. this movie has to be commended for it's revamping of the evil clown genre in a new age blaxploitation style of cinematic vignettes.the make up team for killjoy deserve a lot of credit, i haven't seen a clown that menacing since the TV adaptation of Steven King's IT! the same show of respect goes to the colour co-ordination in the scenery, backgrounds and character clothing.sure it's not a Hollywood cgi gore-fest, but it has everything the average horror fan needs: black comedy, cartoon like protagonists, a charming villain, creative story lines with just enough predictability to make the viewing experience worthwhile and bringing the psychological aspect of fear into play rather than relying on low budget techniques for scare tactics. and if you really wanna get critical, yes there were copyright free sounds used throughout the picture such as the infamous "open and closing jail door slam" or the "cartoon network like punch and kick combos" but for me the end result is still solid. i definitely felt empathy towards Michael, the lonely outcast that bares the brunt of bullies and solitude and struggles to find love in the one person who could possibly help get his life in a better situation.for the sceptics.....you like krusty the clown from the simpsons? did you like that one Halloween episode where he becomes an evil doll? have you seen the first hellraiser film by Clive barker? can average acting ability be enhanced in a teenage slasher flick during the year 2000? if you can answer yes to at least 3 out of those 4 questions, i recommend you watch this film - or at least give it a test drive for the first 20 minutes...then you can start giving a thumbs down to reviewer's comments and down rating a film to under 2 stars!!10 outa 10, only heard about it from various youtube videos, i've already downloaded the 2 sequels (which i'm now definitely interested in finding time to watch!!)
