Watch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The word "Kareeb" itself bears a romantic tag on it.But it is not a typical 90's Hindi movie. For me it is one of the romantic movie in the history of Indian Cinema. It has everything not only the romantic side but also the comedy and sad part. The actors have done a great job.And the last lottery drama was also great.I really loved the movie and it is my one of the most favorite movie of all time.

This was was VVC's next film after 1942 A Love Story. The film starred Bobby Deol and Neha. The film is supposedly based on Vidhu Vinod Chopra's own youth love story. The first half is more on the romance which does get stretched, however Bobby's scenes with Neha are cute, the pace is slow but yet the love story is well handled, the second half gets dramatic, there is a comic relief in the name of Johny Lever but the entire lottery part seems like a compromise, for Bobby who has vowed not to lie to actually support the lottery taken by bribe is hard to digest but yet the end is goodDirection is good but the writing could be better Music by Anu Malik is good, Chori Chori, Churalo Na Dil are all good songsBobby Deol is sincere, he shows vast improvement from GUPT and does his part of a lovesick lost puppy well, the second half gets him more scope to act and he does a good job. Neha(Shabana-actual name) is cute and does her part well The film also has Abhay Chopra son of VVC making his debut and he is okay Saurabh Shukla is superb as always, Moushumi chaterjee does a good job Shammi Kapoor, Sushma Seth are okay in small roles rest are okay

well..i would rather say that somewhere Bollywood movie viewers seek that tradition and that effect in a lover who lives in Indian family situations..after so long time i have watched such a movie that reminds typical fantasizing nature oriented meeting of a hero-heroin with yellow dupatta and a simple look most Indian girls keep in villages. Director had good sense of what to show to Indian audience, but typically a love story during the time when generation preferred action movies of the same actor(Bobby Deol)..is worth watching..the big hairs he had for the movie has shown that even he tried to do some emotional acting to show the shade of the character...a good place to shoot was selected by the film makers..

This the first review i am writing on IMDB. Maybe i should have taken the initiate and written bout a movie i really really loved (or really really hated) to make it memorable. But anyway, i felt like writing and so i am, who cares bout any sense of direction or purpose.Watch the movie and you'll think Chopra-gi felt much the same. There is the yellow dupata waving in the wind that was a nice formula that worked well elsewhere. There is Johnny Lever (whose 'acting talent' seems constrained to one specific line of attack) thrown in for good measure.
Don't people in India ever get tired of this crap. I have to admit the songs are good, atleast i remember them being good in 1998, but like 99% others it is forgotten 3 years later. Nothing unusually clever about the film, though i strongly doubt u would be readin this review here if u were out looking for a clever hindi film.Watch it if all u want are a few songs, nice locales and ofcourse beautiful Neha and chota Dharmendra 'pasgaya pyaar mein' moods.Take care and i really think more people should write reviews you know. It is always nice to know why someone hates the movie i love and so on.
Ofcourse you didn't need me to say any of this rite!! :)
