Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
SabrinaMBowen I don't generally watch comedies, mostly because I don't tend to find them funny, and I was afraid to watch this because I'm a HUGE fan of the original, but I was extremely pleased with this film. Family friendly and funny for everyone- win-win!
lfoake I thought the humor was the greatest. Jack Black probably stole the show with his portrayal of a teenage girl. He was so much fun! Of course, it was way off the original movie, but that honestly doesn't bother me when a movie is done well.
evanston_dad Moderately entertaining film that I probably would never have bothered watching had I not been on an 8-hour flight with slim pickings for entertainment options.Dwayne Johnson tries his hand at outright comedy and does a pretty decent job at it. He and Karen Gillan are the film's highlights, since they're the only ones who try to actually act, playing game avatar versions of awkward teenagers. Much as I like Jack Black normally, he's pretty wasted in his role, and Kevin Hart works overtime to wring laughs out of the script but didn't make me chuckle once. The less said about Bobby Cannavale's performance as the movie's villain the better. I know this movie takes place in a video game world and that an element of exaggeration is fine, but come on. He's nearly unwatchable.Grade: B-
twhughes-00286 This is an entirely new movie, so do not compare it to the last one- which was great. Jumanji the Board game "comes up with a newer version of itself" to fit the times, and so does this movie. The actors do a great job of poking fun at themselves, keeping it light but very intense. It is a funny, kind of inspiring movie full of "personal growth", which does get a little "teen angsty" at times, but is worth the watch. Underrated.
