Too much of everything
Moustroll
Good movie but grossly overrated
Borserie
it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

The best House/Dance music album ever, played with some of the best Japanese animation ever. Daft Punk seamlessly work the stories told by their Discovery album in to this movie, and give the music a whole new meaning. One half of Daft Punk, Thomas Bangalter, said in an interview that the reason Interstella 5555 was released 2 or so years post release of the Discovery album is because they intended the audience to listen first, gain their own meaning, and then water later. This means the audience hears the album, and find their own meanings through it,etc, then they see the movie, and discover a whole new amazing universe they never expected could come from any kind of music.

Never having been associated with much anime before besides the usual kiddy drivel (at age 12),so I dismissed most of it. Then I saw a music video that blew my mind! One More Time by Daft Punk played and I swear, that was the first song I had fully loved and hung on every note and word. Then "Daft Punk" sadly faded away from my mind. Later on I was reintroduced to the Punk and remembered the one song that won me over. Finally I started to collect the anthology of Daft Punk and came across a DVD. Interstella 5555. I remember reading about it, not remembering that it contained the music video for "One More Time" (actually forgetting about the clip almost entirely except for the song), and quickly purchased it. I went home and threw it in my DVD player. Then came the moment... the awesome moment...I finally had that feeling once again of hanging on every note and loving the images. The characters, the worlds, the music... Everything about this screamed brilliance. This Movie is a tale of love, exploitation and how wonderful dreams come to life. The thrilling set pieces and fantastic music made me fall in love with this movie. The animation is flawless, the music tells a great story. This is one MOVIE (I use movie because it really is that, not just an extended music clip as some believe!) that I wouldn't mind erasing from my mind completely just so I could experience it all over again.I thank Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto for releasing a brilliant movie. The concept sounds edgy to any newcomer of Daft Punks music or of Anime but I assure everyone that this movie is pure awesomeness. Buy it if you see it! (I got it for $13.99 Australian)

Wow!, what a movie. Gave me goosebumps just watching it. The animation is so rich and endlessly colourful that you would want to keep watching it over and over like I do. I'm a Daft Punk fan and I must say this is a masterpiece for them as their songs really brought out all the emotion in this film, my favourite one in the movie was 'Digital Love', it was excellent, perfectly done! Although the movie doesn't have dialogue, it is kinda fun to know what is going on and whats the storyline of the movie. I've not watched the other anime series from Leiji Matsumoto, but I must say he is a genius for making this film which is out of this planet! So do watch this movie when you get the chance to, it will really make your day and you will want to watch it again! Ciao!

Interstella 5555 is an experimental film by the House duo Daft Punk, about the abduction of an alien music group by an evil music executive bent on exploiting them. The story unfolds with the band's kidnapping, their transformation into "normal" human beings, and their eventual rescue by a fellow alien of their planet, who happens to be in love with Stella, the lone female of the group. There is no spoken dialog in the film. Instead, the entire score is set to Daft Punk's album "Discovery". Directed by Leiji Matsumoto, "Interstella 5555" is a fun and surprisingly involving story, with music to match. Each song blends seamlessly into the next segment, with the moods shifting from outrageously loud (Crescendolls), to depressingly somber (Nightvisions). Daft Punk fans will love Interstella, but I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some high spirited fun, particularly anime fans, as the animation is excellent. In a generation where nudity and expletives rule the music scene, Interstella 5555 is a refreshing, and ultimately successful foray into Daft Punk's music. I really loved it and it's a shame that this little gem wasn't released in theaters, because the animation and sound would have been brilliant on the big screen.Look for an appearance of Daft Punk themselves during the awards ceremony.
