If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

Intermedio could have been much better but also much worse. What was actually disappointing about the movie was that it did have potential, but it doesn't live up to it. It does get some redeeming qualities because some of the settings are eerie, the opening is atmospheric in a creepy sense and some of the killings were inventive. The special effects for the ghosts are not that great, but at the same time I have seen much worse. Unfortunately, Intermedio is a movie where there is a movie more bad than good. It is often very murky to look at, with overly-dark lighting, and it is very choppily shot and edited. The sound effects and such are often too obvious and overbear the dialogue a lot. But in regards to the dialogue actually, you're not missing all that much because it is terrible, very stilted and doesn't go anywhere. It also felt very improvised, I commented on another movie recently that the dialogue reminded me of an episode of Ghost Hunters or something, and I got a similar vibe here as well. The characters as a consequence come across as obnoxious and are never developed enough to make us properly care for them. The acting does little to change that either, to sum it up in one word it is rather amateurish, loud panting when running around for example is not really a sign of good acting. But I think it was the story that really dragged Intermedio down, it is very stodgily paced, with nothing in the atmosphere to make the movie truly unsettling and you learn nothing about the ghosts other than that they're tortured predators. It also doesn't know what kind of movie it wants to be, it starts off being a creature horror then as a revenge thriller, these two styles couldn't have been more different and it jarred and dilutes any kind of tension that the opening sequence gave the impression it would. Add to that a contrived ending, and you have overall a jumbled mess with some redeeming values. 4/10 Bethany Cox

This was just awful. I really don't know what Eddie Furlong was thinking agreeing to be in this movie. Didn't he read the script beforehand? I could barely sit through this and I would never recommend it to anyone. In addition, I would advise the SyFy Channel to never play this movie again. I, like many others, I am sure, thought that the fact that Mr. Furlong was in this movie would insure that it would be worth the two hours I sat and watched this. The plot made no sense, they reuse scenes over and over (not the good ones either), and I rather wanted to shot myself in the face by the time I finally made it to the end. The one saving grace is a side boob shot at the very end... though even that didn't do much... Don't waste your time with this one, people.

This has to be without a doubt one of the worst movies with some of the worst acting I have ever seen. Pathetic does not begin to describe it. Painful on the eyes and ears would be an understatement. A bunch of teenagers with guns run around in a cave yelling, screaming, and cursing at one another while a mad warlock controls spirits that maim and kill them in some mysterious way-they get sucked through doors, sucked into the ground, become covered in blood. At least one of the guys was relatively nice looking and almost provided eye candy. That's about the brightest point of the movie other than when the credits roll and you realize that it thankfully has ended.

"Intermedio" is a rather unremarkable Sci-Fi Channel creature feature.**SPOILERS**Years after the deaths of their father's, brother and sister Malik, (Edward Furlong) and Gen, (Cerina Vincent) and friends Barbie, (Amber Benson) and Wes, (Callard Harris) decide to bury old wounds and head off into the tunnels where they were supposedly killed. Winding up in a small town near the Mexican border, they descend into the tunnels and begin to experience flashes about their past. As they start to get picked off one-by-one, a legend about a mysterious creature that can move between dimensions is blamed. Struggling to stay alive in the tunnels, the group tries to fight off the creatures. The Good News: Even though it's a disappointment, there's still some decent moments in here. The setting is really creepy and makes for a great place. The walls give off a great eerie presence throughout, and are dark enough to really become spooky. They are generally just creepy and are quite frightening. The gore is quite nice, and looks pretty good as well. The deaths themselves aren't all that bad. One is sawed in half at the waist with razor blades, another has a metal chain through the eye, both hands get chopped off and one gets knife in the throat, which is quite gorier than it sounds. It has some more blood coming from the creatures themselves, who look pretty freaky and messed up. The fact that it has a pretty clever intro to the storyline is actually pretty good. It's not new or anything, but it allows for some more relatable experience to everyone else viewing it. It's a more common experience and it gets the viewer a little more involved, and any film that can do that isn't all that bad of a film. The Bad News: This really could've been good, it had the potential, but what really ruins most of this is the actual plot itself. It starts off as a great creature feature about a group of creatures loosened from another dimension onto ours, but then it changes course into becoming a supernatural revenge film. It really doesn't mix well and becomes a jumbled mess. The final half of the film is mostly at cause, mixing in a couple of twists that stick out quite hugely and don't really serve anything other than to stretch the film out. The fact that the film really doesn't even have a real strong plot is another strike. It's all been done before, and besides the protagonists twist, it's not that original. It can be seen coming along the way pretty much right all the way through, and that can be irritating. The opening half sets up this wonderful atmosphere of creepiness and dread, and then it gets completely ruined at the end with the clichéd ending that really destroys the credibility of the film. This really could've been good, but it's such a shame how it ended up.The Final Verdict: Another rather typical creature feature that isn't sure it wants to be one, this ends up being a weird combination of everything that doesn't really work. See it mainly if you enjoy the normal Sci-Fi Channel films they normally have, it will really appeal to that crowd more than anything. Otherwise, exercise caution with this one.Rated R: Graphic Language, Graphic Violence, Brief Nudity and drug use
