ray-tomecko Hey studio. Are you out of your minds? You released this direct to DVD? ( I read that, anyway) This was a great romantic comedy. Everyone was a standout. Fun and touching. Loved Michelle and Rudd. I'm a little sick of Rudd because of his current vehicles, but he was excellent in this. They made a great, believable couple. The daughter, now in Hanna, is ...what?...can't use great again...fine, great. Took over her part.One of the best films of any kind I've seen this year. And I see many. Found this by accident when I was looking up Hanna on Rotten Tomatoes and this was mentioned. Good find.Thanks for making me laugh..(and tear up a little.)

dierregi This movie is very disturbing on many levels. Paul Rudd and Michelle Pfeiffer look like lovable people and decent actors. However, at the time of filming she was 49, he was 38, and I just do not understand why they have to play respectively 40 and 29. I am sure there must be plenty of actors of the right age, who can be even more convincing at being 40 and 29. It seems totally unnecessary to start with such a stupid lie.The plot revolves around the Paul and Michelle characters (Adam and Rosie) falling for each other, and her insecurities about being too old for the guy. Given that they live and work in Hollywood, a city where human relationships are based on appearance and people take extraordinary good care of themselves, it seems strange that somebody like Michelle Pfeiffer could be so insecure about her looks. Unless her character has the self-esteem of a doormat, she must be pretty sure she looks great for her age and all the grieving about "being old" sound phony and hypocrite. But this is just a minor detail in a vulgar and one-dimensional plot. Not only the lives of all the characters are based on appearance and shallow relationships, they all seem convinced that youth is the only value and consequently do their best to regress as far as possible into their adolescence. Some of scenes (Michelle playing with Barbies and jumping on a bed) are cringe inducing. She is a mature, professional woman, whose only desire is to behave as foolishly as a teenager.Some stupid behavior can be accepted from teenagers, because they do not better (yet), but it is pathetic to see this grown-up woman doing her best to regress to her daughter's level. Not that adults have to behave always in wise and boring ways, but this movies implies that only way to live a satisfactory life is to remain juvenile throughout one's life. To top up this widespread refusal to grow up and accept responsibilities, in one scene, Rosie insults her daughter's teacher because he is not giving her good marks. This sounds aggressive and foolish, but I am sure nowadays most parents find it perfectly normal to blame the teachers for their children's ignorance and bad marks.In the end, this is a sad, pathetic but also worrying portrait of how our society is evolving, or rather de-evolving on the way to eternal, mindless, shallow youth (real and fake) and refusal to accept any responsibility. And Jon Lovitz, in a small supporting role, is one of the most unbearable actors on the market.

napierslogs "I Could Never Be Your Woman" is written and directed by Amy Heckerling, she of "Clueless" (1995) fame. Now she has triumphantly returned and is taking on the TV and film industry.This movie is for the young Generation Xers who watched "Clueless" en masse. Now that we have grown up and Heckerling has too, she is skewering the beauty-obsession of Hollywood and its desire to look and be younger.Michelle Pfeiffer stars as the producer of a teen-based TV show, she's 40 and she's a single mom. The main storyline is that she casts Paul Rudd in her show and starts dating him. A romantic comedy with a younger man-older woman relationship. Yes that's been done before, and yes, the standard lame rom-com story isn't great. But that doesn't matter here because it's the right vehicle for all the hilarious Hollywood-bashing jokes.Heckerling is right-on-target with her many jokes, and her audience should appreciate the casting of "Clueless" vets Stacey Dash and Paul Rudd as actors playing high school teenagers. Also stars Jon Lovitz as the ex-husband, and Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan as the daughter, plus even more great comedic actors.The right audience (teenagers of the 90s) should thoroughly enjoy "I Could Never Be Your Woman". Anybody frustrated with the beauty-obsession and thin bodies thrown at us from a Hollywood-induced society, will also find themselves laughing all the way through to the end credits.

MLDinTN Michelle Pfieffer plays, Rosie, a writer on a hip teen show called You Go Girl. She's the Hollywood cougar. Her pray is aspiring actor, Adam, whom she hires to play a guest spot on the show. He's also about 15 years younger than her. At first, she's not keen on going out with him, but decides she can try to get past the age issue. She's also raising a teen daughter, whom has her own boy problems. Rosie's secretary, Jeannie, decides to mess with her situation and tries to make Rosie think Adam is seeing Brianna, star of You Go Girl, behind her back. Soon her lies are discovered and Rosie and Adam have a happy ending.FINAL VERDICT: I didn't think it was funny. I thought it was very average and I can see why it wasn't in theaters. Plus Michelle Pfieffer's face, particular her chin, looks really weird. She may have had some of that bad plastic surgery they make fun of in the beginning of the film. I don't recommend this one.
