Hunter Prey Audience Reviews

Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Rocketeer_Raccoon Haha, I just couldn't help myself but think how of a resemblance the armoured suits that the alien characters wear make them look like Boba Fett from Star Wars.OK, I'll put all joking aside now, well it's not a bad sci-fi film but it's just really average, from the looks of it all there wasn't a lot of effort put into this film. There was very little action in it and the ending is lacking. As for the story I can just make out what it's all about and overall I think the film could have done with more fine-tuning to make it a more worthwhile film.
sean-hodgkins What can I say, Seen thousands of films, even been in one or two( the back of my head at the rear of a crowded room), But this was a real breath of fresh air, yes its on a small budget but they spent their money well, Good acting and some interesting scenes play out before you, just sit back and relax and enjoy the film for what it is, a well written, polished film yes made with very little money but a real pleasure to watch. If its ever remade with a vast budget it would be a film of the year contender, where ever they got the idea from they should go pick up some more as its a nice alternative to the formulaic block busters.thank you.
MartinHafer Several years ago, I saw a strange short film on the internet called "Batman: Dead End". I say strange because the film was pretty much a homemade project--done with a VERY limited budget of only $30,000. Yet, despite this, it LOOKED like a Hollywood production of Batman!! Dollar-for-dollar, it's one of the most amazing shorts I've ever seen. Now, with "Hunter Prey", the same filmmaker, Sandy Collora, has returned with more money and a desire to make a full-length film. Can he once again produce a Hollywood quality production with only a bare-bones budget of $425,000? To put it simply, yes....the film is another astounding success. Despite very, very limited funds, the film is excellent throughout and looks as if it cost much, much more. Part of this could be because Collora is experienced as a special effects guy--and I am sure his experience with big projects exposed him to folks who knew their craft as well. This might explain how the makeup, music, cinematography and computer effects were so good--better looking that the films made for the ScyFi Channel--at a fraction of the cost. All I know is that it looked darn good! The plot is very simple. The film begins with a small group of soldiers stranded on a desert planet (actually, Baja California). Apparently, their prisoner somehow sabotaged their starship and was responsible for the deaths of many of their crew. Now, these men are out to recapture the prisoner--and they are ordered NOT to kill the creature. But it's very cunning--and is able to take out the soldiers one after another after another. Who or what IS this creature? What is going to happen next? Tune in to this very tense little film to find out for yourself. In many ways, this film is quite reminiscent of the excellent sci-fi film, "Enemy Mine". While it's not as deep a story, there are definite parallels. BUT, "Enemy Mine" cost $33,000,000--and that was over 25 years ago!!! All in all, while this is not a great sci-fi film compared to the entire genre, for the money it spent it IS a great film. I think every young film student should see this--and see how you can make a wonderful film on a shoestring. In addition to praising Collora (I am NOT a family member, friend or paid spokesman), kudos also go to the film's co-writer and the actors. Again, a lot was done for very little and I was impressed. I can't wait to see their next project!
Bakalite I've kind of scored this more than it probably deserves - but damn, I've missed these completely out there little gems. Its speculative fiction at its best. Think of those obscure TV Twilight Zone episodes from two decades ago.A simple story, a soldiers tale. There's no real twists, what you see is what you get. The context however is the story, and by that I mean its all in the dialog. Commentators are quite right in comparing this with "Enemy Mine", which is by far the closest film comparison despite all the various other film references, and I would go so far as to say this is a better story, despite being portrayed on a much lower budget. Sure, there's obvious errors throughout. I'm sure film buffs will point them all out, but hey, a wonderfully obscure, wonderfully simple story that kept me captivated throughout. Not every ones thing of course but, hey, very worthy nonetheless.
