Very disappointing...

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

"Rambo" parody in which Topper Harley leads a rescue team into Iraq to save Iraqi war prisoners and all of their previous rescue teams. Don't get me wrong Hot Shots! that was released in 1991 was amazing but Hot Shots! Part Deux is actually way way better. It's packed with so many movie references from Empire Strikes Back (1980) to Robocop (1987) to even Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) but the biggest one of them all is Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) and it's just so freaking funny plus casting Richard Crenna was such a freaking good choice plus also loved Rowan Atkinson's part he was so damn funny as always. If you loved Part 1 Part Deux is just miles and miles way more insane!!!

It is rare that a film based on sight gags can get released period, much less spawn a sequel. Look at the "Airplane" movies. The first one was hilarious and deserves a place in the "greatest comedies of all-time" category. The second effort? Not so much. Remarkably, though, "Hot Shots 2" actually exceeds its predecessor by spoofing a specific film genre: the action flick. For a basic plot summary, "Hot Shots 2" sees Topper Harley (Charlie Sheen) once again called to serve his country to aid a rescue mission in the Middle East (this film was produced during the Gulf War era). While carrying out the mission set forth by President Benson (Lloyd Bridges), Topper must also deal with his feelings for Ramada (Valerie Golino). What sets this sequel apart from the original is its more effective spoof of the Sylvester Stallone- type action films, especially the Rambo series. Heck, it even stars Richard Crenna! There are some scenes spoofing parts of Rambo 2-3 that could be almost frame-for-frame remakes, and they are hilarious. If you're not a fan of the action genre, you'll laugh AT it. If you are a fan, you'll laugh WITH it.This movie also succeeds character-wise (something comedies usually quickly discard) by building on plot themes from the original. For example, Topper still struggles through his feelings for Ramada and ultimately comes to a hard conclusion, showing more character development than a typical gag flick. Also, who can forget the screen presence of Lloyd Bridges in these films? Without him, the series would be lost, as his lines/actions are easily the funniest. Thus, as with the original, this is a film that you'll either get, or you won't...there's no middle ground. You'll either find it incredibly insipid/stupid, or raucously funny.

Hot Shots Part Deux is a better than average movie with a alright story line and a great cast. Its definitely not better than the original Hot Shots, but its not an awful sequel.People who where fans of the first might be disappointed, but I didn't have very high hopes because I wasn't a huge fan of the first, but its definitely not as good as the first,I just found it to be a movie to just laugh at,but still misses a lot,its not as good as movies like Airplane or The Naked Gun.Fans of the first Hot Shots will probably be disappointed, but will probably still laugh at many scenes.Topper Harley (Charlie Sheen) returns, this time in a parody of Rambo as he is the leader of a team in heading to Iraq to rescue a soldier who has been kidnapped.

Jim Abrahams ran out of "Top Gun" jokes, so this sequel mainly focuses on the even more spoof-worthy "Rambo"-movies. Apart from that, it's pretty much the same as the first. And honestly, what could anyone have against that? This stuff is just hilarious in all its weirdness, I wouldn't want it any other way. Also Charlie Sheen still fits in so surprisingly well and Valeria Golino returns too because well, pretty girls with foreign accents make any movie better. Highlights include the inevitable breakings of the fourth wall, the "Apocalypse Now" spoof that comes from pretty much nowhere and the downright bizarre running gag with the birth mark. I also enjoyed pretty much every sequence featuring Saddam, because it just felt so delightfully wrong. This movie is exactly what you expect, which I guess is a good thing.
