Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good

Siflutter It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

westsideschl A totally irresponsible storyline of the well known Stockholm syndrome where the kidnapped begins to identify with the kidnappers and even joins in their criminal activities. The kidnappers were even willing to shoot at innocent quick gas/shop convenience store customers and workers in this scenario. The sad part of this story is that the writer/director has no concept of what almost always happens in reality with this event. 95+% of the time the kidnapped is either dead or psychological traumatized or forever isolated from family. This film romanticized such an event. Even filming in beautiful landscapes to make it seem fairytale like. And, sadly film can be a motivator for some. Seems like this writer/director is in it for the money no matter the consequences.

sophieloveschocolate Highway isn't just a film, its a journey, which could end up being reality for some of us. Unfortunately, many people don't realize this, the fact that we are all part of a society, where we can't be ourselves, or express ourselves. In short, a society that we think gives us freedom, but it really doesn't. Imtiaz Ali has realized this, which is why he has written the story of Highway.The film may look simple and ordinary. But, if you take time to analyse it, you may see that everything in the movie has been scripted for a reason, and each character has been created thoughtfully. Alia Bhatt's character, Veera, is a naive, innocent yet bright women who wants to live life on her terms. In contrast, Randeep Hooda's character, Mahabir,is a harsh, tough gang member. The relationship between these two characters is so special, because even though they are opposites, they are still very similar.Imtiaz Ali's direction is perfect, as usual. The performances by Alia and Randeep are mind blowing. It's pretty obvious why Imtiaz chose these wonderful actors in Highway. No one else could create the same atmosphere as them. Anil Mehta has beautifully captured every location. From the rock-steady mountains to the cool streams, every aspect of the movie looks like paradise. The movie wouldn't have been the same without the music of A R Rahman. The song 'Patakha Guddi' is my favourite, because it feels like it was written for me. Irshad Kamil has penned every lyric accurately. Overall, I think the film was brilliant compared to all the nonsense films being made these days. I hope more films like Highway will be made in the future.

praveen77 I was starting to think commercial cinema had ensnared Imtiaz Ali in its tempting web with the quality of his movies progressively declining each time. However, this has reaffirmed his stature as a once promising film maker. A story of suppressed sadness and rage and a quietly building crescendo of emotions, the unlikely pairing of Alia Bhatt's spoilt rich girl on the eve of her wedding, and her would be kidnapper, Randeep Hooda works magic as they traverse a route on some even more magical landscapes. As she struggles with her long suppressed inner demons and discovers a freedom she hadn't ever experienced before with her captor, Alia Bhatt is the heart and soul of this movie. Her emotional outburst towards the end of the film was one of the best pieces of acting I've seen from a Bollywood actress in recent times and gripped me enough to not lift my eyes from the screen.

revugnath This is one of the best movies in Hindi,in my opinion.The story evolves as two people from different backgrounds, brought together by life,finds solace in each other.The simplicity and "raw- ness" in the movie is note-worthy. The natural beauty of Himalayan Landscape and A.R. Rahman's sublime music adds to the movie's experience.Acting by Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt is nothing less than magnificent. Kudos to Imtiaz Ali!!For some reason I feel grateful to the whole crew of the movie for giving me an awesome experience.
