Poorly acted, poorly directed and as has been stated, poorly dubbed, this movie is a knock-off of a host of previously filmed movies jammed into one. Let's see, here is your plot. (I suppose this is the spoiler alert if you will) Young adults head off into the woods for a mere 3 hour rock climb that turns into much more than they bargained as they are tormented by some mountain man that eventually picks off all the poor defenseless (albeit stupid) young adults. Sounds like it has been done before? That's because it is pretty much the same premise as most other bad horror or suspense films. It even tries to pull off a certain type of "Blair Witch" ending as if any of us are going to believe there is even a hint of realism or truth behind the film. If you think of this as a B horror film that is maybe 1 to 1-1/2 stars, then you won't be misled. If you are expecting an intelligent and interesting thriller of the 3-4 star range, you will be sorely disappointed.

During the first half things were quite interesting, and when the group initially gets into trouble when the bridge they're walking on starts to collapse, things get quite tense. The characters are quite varied really, consisting of one enthusiastic guy, a girl who is (was?) considering quitting her nurse job, that girl's whiny boyfriend, her ex-boyfriend who's easygoing but occasionally tries provoking the boyfriend, and another girl who's personality isn't distinct...Things get worse for this group of characters as a killer is in the area, using the abandoned hiking path for a hunting ground.Things get worse in another sense, actually, because while offscreen this villain was probably more effective. Unfortunately just before he appears, one character does something very stupid, which drags the film quality down somewhat. I'm not going to spoil it specifically but someone acquires the stupidity level often found in villain characters populating Syfy-commissioned films.

A group of young friends decide to escalate the peak at Risnjak, Croatia. The five have prepared themselves for what appears to be one of the most difficult climbs ever. Among them, only four, Fred, Karine, Guillaume and Chloe have experience, but the fifth member of the group, Loic, is new at the sport. To complicate things, Guillaume and Chloe were romantically involved. Now Chloe is seeing Loic which puts a bit of a strain in the situation. As they arrive to the bottom of the peak, there is a sign which Fred ignores, or just does not comprehend because it is a warning the trail is closed. Fred insists in going. The first part goes well, somehow, with Loic showing his fear because of his inexperience. They must traverse a long bridge that begins to collapse and almost kills Karine, who at one point is seen dangling from the cables until pulled to safety by Fred.As they reach the top, they find a wooded area. Fred, trying to find a way to go back walks into a some sort of animal track which crushes his leg. The friends have no clue about what is going to happen. They have arrived at an area that is full of traps. A mad lunatic has created a scenario where the five young mountaineers will be trapped with no clear way to get back to their world.Directed by Abel Ferry, it has an intriguing beginning. The trouble lies on the screenplay conceived by Johanne Bernard and Raphael Lenglet that goes for the horror as the group is trapped. Complicating the whole thing is a mad individual that has created a world unfit for humans. It is a place that not even the brave should attempt for this monster has figured out what to do with those who trespass his realm. The first part of the film plays well, but everything goes haywire after the arrival at the wooded area at the top.Fanny Valette, seen as Chloe is about the best thing in the film. Her character is fighting its own demons that are not completely and satisfactorily explained. She has done much better in other films. The picture is supposed to take place in Croatia but one suspects this was shot entirely in France. Nicolas Massart captures the essence of the adventure in its breathtaking surroundings. The musical score is by Jean-Pierre Taieb.

This movie started off excellent. The shots of the mountains and the beauty of nature shown through that first half of the film was just amazing and breath taking !! This movie has one of my favorite French actors Johan Libereau (Loic- or Luke)and the movie started out exciting, fresh, full of adventure, and was thrilling keeping me wanting more. When the leader (Fred) got caught in a bear trap I was tense with excitement, and wondered what they would do next. Then it went down hill right after that, and it just plummeted. I quite caring about the movie about 2 minutes after Fred got dragged away. It went from a great cinematic French experience (despite the terrible English dubbing) to a terrible wannabe-American-terrible C rate horror film. Loic became really annoying and whinny, ruining the talents of Johan (Les Temoins,Douches Froides,Q,and Un Coeur Simple). The flashbacks of Chloe and Im assuming her brother or former patient didn't match with the storyline in my opinion. Did I mention that the version I watched had terrible English dubbing ? The killer wasn't scary or intimidating, and the deaths the cast experience are ridiculous, especially Loic's and Karines. This movie goes from epic to worthless in a 3 minute span, I would suggest only watching the first half and not disappointing yourself with the rest.
