Hidden Heroes Audience Reviews

Noutions Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
siluro I usually have a lot to say about the movies I've seen, and that's exactly the reason why I never write comments on IMDb - don't have the time for it, and I'm not sure if it's worth it. This however is an exception - I can't tell you much about Hidden Heroes, and this is why I want to. It's NOT a well-made comedy, and in fact it's NOT a well-made movie by any standards. So why the perfect score then? It's very simple - I've seen "Heroes" six times by now and EVERY goddamn time - it's VERY hard for me not to collapse on the floor, roaring with laughter. Among the hundreds of comedies I've seen so far, this stands as the single most hilarious one. What's so funny about it? Actually, I'm not sure. Maybe its very scenes are - following one after another in such an irrational and unexpected way, that I often find myself wondering if there was any script to begin with? Or maybe it's the lead actor (Ronald Cheng - this being his only movie I've seen so far), who behaves like a deranged junkie, switching moods, accents and expressions for no apparent reason? Or it's Charlene Chois' performance maybe? Nah, she's funny all right, but nothing extraordinary. Or maybe it's because of all those other characters, with their absurd stories, traits and backgrounds? Something else? You see, it's hard to explain why one would possibly like Hidden Heroes. The closest thing in terms of "atmosphere" to this movie, that I can currently recall, are the books of Robert Rankin - "The Greatest Show Off Earth", etc. Or the Monty Python movies, if you strip them of all the hidden meaning, and stamp them "Made in Hong Kong". There is no satire here - just a two-hour long, ridiculous movie, about nothing in particular. So, if you happen to have a sense for absurd humor, and you're in the mood to have some of it - this is for you! "Heroes" does have a heart, and doesn't need a brain! Have fun!
