I remember when this film was released theatrically in 1980. My sister and group of our friends would venture to the drive-in whenever these slasher films were released. We saw all them but this was one of the that we missed. I remember seeing the coming attraction as kid and thinking "This film looks stupid". I was very young and I was correct.I saw this first on HBO around 1981. I do not remember to much about the film but only that Tom Hanks was in it. At the time he was on the Television Show "Bosoms Buddies". Now 35 years later I don't remember too much about the film so I decided to watch it. What a waist of time. The film is slow. The body count is low. The lighting is bad. Tghe acting is bad. The story "Stupid". he plot follows a soon-to-be bride who is stalked by a killer the weekend before her wedding.Shot in Staten Island, New York in 1979, He Knows You're Alone has been credited as one of the first horror films inspired by the success of 1978's Halloween and shares a number of similarities with the previous hit. 17 years after the initial release of this film "Scream 2" was released. Horror Fan and screenwriter Kevin Williamson & director Wes Craven stole the opening of this film. However they did do a better job. A curious film to watch because there are faces you will recognize.

Totally average and very chaotic slasher movie. However I feel a sentiment to eighties movies and often find them more entertaining than an average modern cinema.I think especially the ending would work better if we had a closer look at the killer or at least at Phil, a groom to be. Instead we get some insights of the detective chasing the guy and a friend dating a character played by Tom Hanks among many other subplots.I watched it only because i am checking movies released in 1980. Same evening i saw Prom Night & The Island. Prom Night holds up much better. It was Tom Hanks first role in a movie, so for this reason i wanted to check it out as well. Actually James Rebhorn made a more interesting appearance, his character is memorable and real fun to watch.

While this movie is not horrible by any means, its just not very good either. The first thing you'll notice is that its very much a clone of 'Halloween', all the way down to the music used in the film. Its about a killer who stalks bride-to-be's,and has now set his sights on Amy (Caitlin O'Heaney). In theory, it sounds like a fun slasher flick, but its just not. Things don't really make sense either. If he only kills brides, why does he kill her friends, and other characters? The kills could have been a little better, although the head in the fish tank was quite cool.Overall, its watchable, and you could do worse, but you could also do a lot better in the 80s slasher department, so unless your a slasher completest, then I'd say skip it. You aren't missing anything. The trailer is actually a lot better than the film itself.

That opening was great! It was the old Hook cliché,but they made it into a twist! I'll admit, I don't even think I want to go to a movie theater for a while after seeing that! It's creepy how easily the person behind you can off you! I must say the title alone almost turned me away, thinking it was a rip-off of the original When a Stranger Calls. I hear "Halloween clone" a lot when hearing about the movie. It's probably that chilling music. It's distinctly reminiscent of Micheal's theme. The acting is spot on and believable. The murder scenes are by no means expected and the killer seems to pop up out of the blue, as he should! All and all, I'd encourage people to give this movie a chance! I feel this movie didn't get the proper recognition it deserved back in 1980s.
