Absolutely the worst movie.

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Nayan Gough
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Billy Ollie
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Made-for-cable movie is appropriately quirky and darkly comic. Clues regarding a small-town sex murder leads a wise female police detective and her rookie partner (Marg Helgenberger and Henry Thomas, both excellent) to a twisted grandma who keeps changing her story. Off-putting details and a few nasty sequences made me wince, but the actors certainly don't look embarrassed, especially Ann-Margret as the granny with a whip (she has a ball!). The story threads are complex and engrossing, but I had trouble with the presentation, which borders on smut with a bigger budget. Some funny lines and memorable bits (like A-M referring to her "bad ticker"), but overall just so-so.

Richard Anselmo stole the ending of the Happy Face Murders as the plodding newspaper reporter. For this part, Anselmo gained over 50 lbs in weight and is being compared to Robert DeNiro's part in " Raging Bull". DeNiro gained 40 lbs in that role to play the part. Anselmo's interview of Ann Margret was the highlight of a very lackluster movie. The only credibility factor of the movie was Anselmo's true to life interview.

Without a doubt one of the most interesting movies that I've seen in a while that claimed to be mostly true. It claimed, in fact, that the parts that they made up are the ones that you would believe at the drop of a hat. It's the TRUTH that leaves your head shaking and your jaw wide open. The movie is funny, strange, and a little chilling; with decent acting to boot. If you have some time to kill, catch this on re-run.

I saw this at the Directors Guild the other night at the premiere. It's a very strange story, especially since it is based on truth. It makes you think about how many truly bizarre people we actually have in our world. Watch this when you get the chance. It will be on Showtime.
