That was an excellent one.

For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

In the Shakespearean film titled Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Kenneth Branagh, Prince Hamlet must avenge the death of his father. The catch is, his father's murderer was crowned king. He struggles to get revenge as everyone believes that he has gone mad. The plot demonstrates what happens when people are greedy or seek vengeance. Branagh did an excellent job adapting his film to the original play; the film was very similar to the original text. He made some bold choices while reimagining certain scenes, but his choices helped me to better understand the plot. The dialogue was difficult to follow, but that is typical for Shakespearean works. Overall, if you are a fan of Shakespeare, you will enjoy Branagh's film.

In the movie Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Kenneth Branagh, Hollywood meets old fashioned Shakespearean plays. The main character, Hamlet, begins his journey with a familiar face telling him the truth about his father's strange death. Hamlet sets out to expose the truth of his father's death to Denmark and figure out what is really going on through love, madness, and even murder. Hamlet is a great representation of how greed and vengeance can lead to malicious acts. The movie follows the main text well for a movie remake. Even with that, it was not easy to follow the characters or connect with them throughout the movie. I would recommend this movie only for people with a good knowledge of Shakespearean plays. Although the movie was good, the language is not easy to follow. Kids probably won't enjoy this movie. The language, little action, and drawn out long dialogue makes this movie rather boring for the young fellas. The director did a very good job of interpreting confusing scenes into how he saw them. An example of this would be the scene where Ophelia is giving out flowers. Rather than having her hand out real flowers, the director followed the characteristic that Ophelia had gone mad by making the flowers imaginary for the movie. Another plus is the addition of flashbacks during the dialogue. For example, the director showed Hamlet Sr.'s death while the characters were discussing it in one of the firsts scenes. If you've made it this far, chances are you probably don't have a problem with old Shakespeare and understand the language. For you, I'd recommend you watch this movie. It will help you understand the play better and offer another perspective on the confusing language that you didn't have a clue on what was going on.

"Hamlet", directed by Kenneth Branagh, was a close replica to Shakespeare's play Hamlet. Hamlet is a young prince and his father had been murdered. To make things worse, his mother married his uncle. Hamlet had been visited by the spirit of his father, explaining who murdered him. He begins to investigate the person that was suspected. Only for many other tragedies to happen along the way. I thought that the movie was a good representation of what happened in the play. It would be hard for people that have not read the play prior or understand the way Shakespeare speaks. But overall the movie was very good and I would watch it again.

Hamlet, directed by Kenneth Branagh, is a Shakespearean Tragedy. For the most part, the movie consistently follows the original play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare. Branagh stars as Hamlet himself, also known as the Prince of Denmark. While conflict is stirring between Denmark and Norway, Prince Hamlet is also returning home to find his father has been murdered. If you think that's not enough to dwell on, Hamlet's mother is also marrying his uncle Claudius. Throughout the entire film Hamlet's overall goal is to avenge his father's death; however, when romance and family comes into the equation things tend to spiral out of control. The movie does a fantastic job of representing how Shakespeare is timeless; therefore, this movie is suitable for teenagers and adults. The director has several messages conveyed throughout the movie, but the main point would be revenge isn't always sweet. During the movie, the only thing I did not care for was that the actors were hard to understand. I felt that the actors could have done a better job annunciating and speaking clearly. On a positive note, I liked that the director made it easier to comprehend the plot line by using props and the actors used facial expressions to their fullest potential. Also, it followed Shakespeare's original text very well. The director added a few of his own interpretations to fill a blank where Shakespeare didn't directly state what was happening, but it did not change the plot, in fact it made the movie better. I connected with a few characters because they were dealing with similar emotions that I have had in my life to a certain extent. Even if you have not read much Shakespeare, I think audiences will still enjoy this piece of work because of how timeless Shakespeare is. I have only read two pieces of Shakespeare's work and I still liked the movie because of how relatable the characters are. I do not think this movie is suitable for children under 13 because of the deep topics expressed and talked about throughout the entire movie. A few topics discussed is suicide, murder, sex, rape, death, and poison. If you are looking for a tear-jerking, thought provoking, tragedy, with a little romance, and suspense then this is the movie for you! It is worth the watch.
