FeistyUpper If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
Derry Herrera Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Michael Ledo This is a film that is more about theme than plot and doesn't present either that well. Soyan (Chris Schellenger) goes to work for the company that he has hacked. The function of the company is to "rewrite history" at least modern history. What they do is erase Internet articles, files, and create false articles that sanitize an individual's or corporation's past...and maybe write a few fake Amazon reviews.Soyan meets social activist Louise (Pom Klementieff). Louise is an Asian looking woman who dies her hair Anime purple, boxes, and takes showers, none of which circle back into the plot. Soyan's company is concern about a woman named Angela King who operates "Independent Leaks" a Wikileaks type web site. The story has a twist, but it is one you already have figured out. The characters are boring, especially the hackers. Their on screen chemistry left a lot to be desired.Guide: F-bomb. Sex. Brief nudity.
in1984 6.8 of 10. What it lacks in the subtlety and smoothness of real-world corporate hacks and Hollywood level production, it makes up for in interesting, believable characters in an equally believable modern-day thriller minus the action. The film captures the mystery and paranoia in choosing who your friends and enemies are in a world filled with fake people and corporate fronts. It also captures the difficulty and danger of leaking information, whether via a Wikileaks-like organization or an "independent leak" while also weaving in some romance and sex intrigue. While I agree it makes the hacking and IP hiding a lot simpler than it is, that's not exactly new to film. Even the documentary CitizenFour doesn't get into the excruciating, time consuming aspects of hacking. That doesn't make either a bad film. Given that both don't suffer being 2+ hour movies, they definitely could explore it more.
zif ofoz I rather enjoyed this cat & mouse story of deception and love.It certainly isn't a big budget movie but Director/writer Cyril Morin did a fine job in creating a story of mystery, deception, fear, and love. The story unfolds in multiple layers just thin enough to keep the viewer thinking he can see whats coming next only to be tricked into discovering you're wrong.Pom Klementieff (Loise) and Chris Schellenger (Soyan) are just exotic enough to keep your interest up in them and their relationship which gets a bit rocky. King Orba (Russel Belial) is just evil enough to make you want to know his next move.Low budget - yes, but that issue doesn't harm this flick one bit. It is a very 21st Century story!
Jack Hunter They could have at least had actual hacker consulted while making this garbage. Or even a competent script kiddie. This film is what happens when people decide to make a film about something they know nothing about, using negative stereotyping (hacker just HAS to be a virgin, because, you know, no way above average individuals can be socially and technologically apt at the same time. Nonsense!).Writing is terrible, acting is atrocious, just ... none of these people can act. This is more like something you accidentally see on YouTube for free, and most likely do not actually waste your life watching it beyond scanning through. And its not even one of those 'so bad, we can laugh' films either. Its more like ... watching a comedy about Holocaust. Thats how offensive this film should be to any legitimate hackers out there.PASS.
