what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

I do not know why this got a 3.9. It is a 7. It is just very underrated. I think there are to many sciences fiction that underrated and this is one of them. This movie has a great story line. It also has great acting. It is very scary. It is scarier then The silence of lambs could ever be. This is scarier then A Nightmare on elm street and that is not easy to do. This is scarier the Friday the 13th V a new beginning and that is not easy to do. This is scarier the Halloween resurrection could ever be. If you like monster movies then you should see this movie.

Monster from a Prehistoric Planet (a.k.a. Daikyoju Gappa/Gappa the Triphibian Monsters) is a fairly fun film. We all know not to expect to much from a film like this. Just do not go into watching it with high hopes of thinking this movie is going to be as good as the "Godzilla" franchise because it is not.The movie really is not all that bad for the type of film it is... but it does lack the glamor and appeal of the iconic monster "Godzilla". These Gappas or "stupid lizard birds" (to quote the film) are more like "Godzilla" on a mild day - they cannot hold a candle to the beloved "Godzilla".If you do decide to watch this film, just watch it for joy/pleasure - to relax and watch some mindless fun nonsense.2/10

Daikyoju Gappa introduces us to another of those Japanese monsters who delight in wrecking the urban areas of Japan. A great country apparently to be in the construction business.He's not the most fearsome of monsters. Imagine Godzilla with wings and a chicken head and you have Gappa. Scientists from Japan on another expedition to a south sea island come back with the recently hatched Gappa as the natives call him. They also don't take it away from them, but the scientists know better.Quite frankly the monster looks so ridiculous I can't imagine it scaring anybody above the age of 4. Still these Japanese monster films do have a goofy enjoyment factor in them no matter how bad they are.And they made tons of money back in the day.

I've seen a lot of Japanese giant monster movies and most of them are terrible. Daikyojû Gappa, or Monster from a Prehistoric Planet as it was translated into English, is no exception. The monsters are flying sea creatures (yeah, it makes a lot of sense) that are clearly men dressed in cheap suits and plastic masks, fly faster than airplanes, breath fire and are pretty upset because people stole their baby, with which they can communicate electromagnetically.There is a bit of fun to be had when you see these people moving around the set and destroying plaster cities, but the enjoyment is limited. The English voice over is a bit funnier, but also not much. A total bore overall.
