Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
Russ Hog What a dumb movie. This guy is gonna fight the other guy for no good reason. Everything is slapstick and corny. Cast is awful. Comedy is dreadful. Total disaster from start to finish. The lady from Man Men is in it and she looks great!
Neil Welch Teacher Andy won't stand up for himself. The last day of the school year involves the seniors all playing malicious stunts on staff at the same time as the school board is rolling out large-scale sackings. Andy's wife is just about to have their second child, and Andy is expecting to participate with his daughter in her elementary school talent contest 15 minutes after his interview about whether he still has a job or not. Factor into this that the pranking leads to muscular psycho teacher Strickland getting fired, blaming it on weedy Andy, and demanding satisfaction by way of a Fist Fight at the end of the day, and you are only dipping your toes into the mountain of improbability which makes up this film. Heaven knows that I don't demand believability from a movie - ghosts, monsters, spaceships and super-heroes comprise a large proportion of my filmgoing inventory - but a film which is notionally rooted in the real world should, I suggest, have a scenario which enables you, at the very least, to suspend disbelief in respect of its least likely elements. The trouble is that there is no element of this movie, other than the birth of the baby, which isn't so much unlikely as totally unbelievable. Not one. I might even be able to make allowances for that if it wasn't for the fact the film is completely unfunny. I don't think anyone in the cinema cracked a smile. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't comedies supposed to make you laugh? But nothing here is funny. Not the female teacher intent on having sex with students, not the half-*ssed plot to plant drugs on a teacher, not the fight itself, not the student determinedly masturbating in the toilets, not the F-bomb laden talent show song performed by the pre-teen daughter... every "gag" here is either misconceived or misfires or both.I'm not a fan of Charlie Day, but he is by far the best thing in this movie, and he isn't very good. Ice Cube as Strickland is horrible. Please do not go to see this film.
invisibleunicornninja I saw this in my theaters with my dad. Somehow he couldn't tell the difference between the ads/previews and the beginning of the movie. I don't know why, but I thought I'd mention it. Plot - The plot is simplistic, but it works. The movie is fairly reliant on random humor which is for the most part pretty funny. There are funnier movies, but for the most part, I was laughing at all the jokes. Sights and Sounds - This movie saved a lot of money by just bringing a camera into an actual American high school. Characters - The characters aren't that developed, but they don't need to be. The characters are simplistic. The actors are pretty good. Comedy - This movie is mainly absurdist nonsense, but the location really grounds it in reality. There are few jokes that don't work. The Fight - I wouldn't really call this a spoiler. All you have to do to know that there is a fistfight at the end is look at the title. The fight itself is fairly good. Its an entertaining and satisfying conclusion to this movie. Overall I'd recommend this movie. I wouldn't call it the greatest movie ever or anything, but its fun and entertaining.
FilmBuff1994 Fist Fight is a mediocre movie with a reasonably well developed plot and a good comedic cast. It is simple fun while it lasts, what really made the film worthwhile for me, overall, was Charlie Day. He has a terrific comedic presence and naturalness to himself that makes him a pleasure to watch. Day is also joined by some great improv comedic talent that includes Tracy Morgan, Jillian Bell and Kumail Nanjiani, who all shine in their scenes. However, it is a very by the numbers comedy that never does anything original or off the cuff. The movie plays things very safe and seems almost afraid to do something really out of the ordinary that would make us laugh more than just a little chuckle, it felt like a movie that was once a very original script, turned in to something formulaic and bland thanks to studio involvement. Ice Cube delivered quite a boring performance in this film, doing absolutely nothing we have never seen him do before, and failing to make some comedic changes, like he did in the Jump Street movies. Instead, he goes for a bland delivery of his dialogue that makes for an unsatisfactory viewing, as the film builds up to him punching Day in the face, a lackluster set up. Has it moments, but quite forgettable. If you are a big fan of any of this movie's comedic talents, then you might want to give it a watch, but Fish Fight is an unexceptional, mundane comedy that never surprised me. A school teacher is challenged to fight another teacher after unintentionally getting him fired. Best Performance: Charlie Day / Worst Performance: Ice Cube
