If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

Such an inspiring and interesting documentary that left an indelible impression on me. It inspires me to better face my challenges, take risks and realize my potential. I think they should show this movie to all college freshmen as they begin their adult life and are trying to figure out what they want to be when they grow up.The unusual approach they take with using children to act out stories/myths in the beginning was a bit distracting in the beginning, but became more meaningful as the movie progressed. I thought the people they interviewed were delightful. I loved their comments and stories which pulled me into their lives and made me want to know more. It's a well done movie and will likely be one of the most influential to me personally that I've seen this year. Not all entertainment, so don't expect it to be full of action. But expect to learn, and to be touched on a deep level.

Inspiring and insightful. It reveals a depth of the human experience that reminds us of our own personal "call to adventure"---to living our life in bliss, alive, and amazingly fulfilled.... and the journey we take in getting there. For example, if you remember back to a time when you were a teenager, when you we were all coming of age, seeking independence from our parents, and first striking out on our own. We may or may not have know what we desired in venturing out into the world alone, but we all felt that healthy sense of anxiety and yet a deep profound knowing inside that even though it may be scary, we must forge ahead and venture out in the world and create a life for ourselves. This is our journey, our common path that binds us together. It is expressed in our stories and movies over and over and over again, and provides the access to life fulfilled. It spoke to the voice inside me of my higher purpose, a sense of something bigger than myself, a sense of what we are all here for. A sense of fulfillment and trusting in this journey we call life.It was deeply moving and touches on the quiet truth that we all have inside, our highest and best selves longing to be unearthed and the story of it unfolding.

This movie will surely appeal to misfits and dreamers of all stripes. It starts off promisingly, introducing a few of Joseph Campbell's key ideas, and even a couple of his subversive ones. Unfortunately, it soon devolves into interviews with several men, most of whom have unconventional occupations, and all but one of whom are white. These men delight in lecturing the audience about the ups and downs and eventual success they achieved during their own "journeys," using a profusion of nauseating "you"-statements instead of "I"-statements. The takeaway from this - that you too can have a fulfilling life if you just do what you love - is nothing new and can be heard in your local college's career counseling office. Oh, but be prepared for the road to be rocky along the way. Heard that one before? This is by a director who made his living making commercials - it shows in his visual style. He has some talent in this area, but he should have left the writing to someone else.

What stood out to me most about this film is the cinematography. I don't usually notice these things, but it really stood out. The shots were well executed, and allowed the message of the documentary to flow smoothly; with visual representations of the message. I had heard about the book The Hero With A Thousand Faces, and nothing but great things. Then, when I came across Finding Joe, and saw it was about the Hero's Journey, I was intrigued -- and pleased with what I found. Not only does it provide in- depth interviews from experts on both spirituality and success in life, but also delves into the workings of mythology, specifically the Hero's Journey, and the most fascinating aspect of this documentary -- how it applies to us. I really enjoyed this documentary and recommend a viewing!
