This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Where to start? The dialog is terrible. The action is unsatisfying. The actions of the characters and almost every aspect of the plot make Zero sense. Perhaps the most ridiculous is Terrance Howard trying to get Channing to throw fights. I mention the actors by name because their characters are as utterly forgettable as this movie. You throw fights for money when you're the favorite you nincapoops. The love story is inept, yet another meaningless, substance-less addition to the story. The ending is terrible. Predictable, stupid, and the moment where the writing goes from deplorable to downright offensively bad. Tatum mumbles 3/4 of his meaningless lines, and even the usually good Terrance Howard just can't save his characters' bad lines and completely ridiculous back-story. He's supposed old friends with our two 'bad guys', only our 'bad guys' aren't really established as bad guys.. None of them! Their entire backstory literally explained with ONE line in the movie. Of course they had, or must've had some sort of fallout... You know another subplot glazed over like a Krispy Kreme donut about to be expedited for shipment to the sewer system. I had this at 4, but gave it a re-watch in hopes that I'd give it a better score.. Nope.. Actually downgraded it. Here's a list of bad action films that are better. Rocky 5. Oh my is ANYthing worse than Rocky 5? Yes! This is! Lionheart. Kickboxer. Gladiator(Gooding). It's ALmost as bad as 'No Retreat No Surrender'.. Not quite, but close!34/100... Huge disappointment.

the good guy/poor boy. the occasion to have some money. a hide world. few fights. a love story. and Channing Tatum.piece of a trend. not bad. not interesting. a couple of emotions and old story of the surviver. gray circle. single virtue - the memories of another movies about good guy, fights and love story. cliché. or just drawing of ordinary society. so, the acting, dialogs, fight scenes, sex scene are only symbols from a recipes again and again refuge for a director in search of subject. basic, perfect movie for fans of actors. for waste of time. for war against dark thinks. is it OK ? maybe not. but it is unique gift from this small film.

Featuring probably the most generic title of 2009, Fighting has a few of the right ingredients but too many of the wrong ones. Channing Tatum's mush-mouthed "aw shucks" gentle half-giant performance is too annoying to ignore and he comes off a lot like John Cena's dumber brother. I have no idea what Terrence Howard is doing in here, but as usual he's the only one that turns in a good performance. It's nice to see The Guz in another film, but he's hardly in it enough to matter. The female lead is so cardboard and generically pretty that you can't even try to care about her. The fights, which are what this movie is supposed to be about, are MTV-ified and feel even more staged than a bad WCW match. There are too many plot holes that stare you right in the face and everyone seems to conveniently know each other just a little too well to conveniently serve the dull script. I'm not sure if it's Dito Montiel's fault or not, since he's responsible for the superior in every way A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. I'm sure teeny boppers are clamoring to see a shirtless Tatum but anyone else looking for a memorable movie about underground fighting would be better off watching Gladiator (with Cuba Gooding not Russell Crowe) or Fight Club.

I just recently finished watching this film for, oh I don't know, the hundredth time and I decided to log on to see if I could find the name of the jazz song that was playing during the end credits.Though, to my dismay I started reading the comments and was very shocked at the horrible reviews that so many were writing about this movie. Must be a case of northern aggression coming out, but we southerners enjoy this movie! I thought the plot was a bit predictable, but that was to be expected. This movie is not Oscar worthy by any means, but I think it does what it was intended to do, to provide entertainment. As far as the acting goes Terrance Howard was OUTSTANDING in this movie. For those of you who disagree, you should definitely go watch the movie again, and reconsider your opinion! Channinig Tatum was very good in his role, and I very much enjoyed the southern slang he used throughout the film.Lastly, for all of you New Yorkers who said the movie just didn't seem real, though the places in the movie seemed real, how on earth could you say such a thing? With actors such as Luiz Guzman, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Altagracia Guzman who are all synonymous with New York. In Lieu of your lack of appreciation for certain depictions of scenes and situations of the city you could look deeper and see that these actors are all a deeper part of keeping this film real. With that said don't go messing with my favorite movie!! lol.
