Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

aci_J Father and Daughter As the title suggests, this 2000 Academy Award-winning short film revolves around a father and his daughter, the latter of which is left alone one day when her father doesn't return from sea. There's some brilliant visuals on display here, from the Lowry-esque character designs to the striking use of black and white, but it's in character and story where the film falls short. It's often hard to distinguish our main character from others in the long shots both because of her lack of distinctive design as well as lack of characterisation, meaning that the precious few minutes we spend with her are somewhat marred by confusion. In addition, I found some of the theming regarding the power of the father figure questionable, and the lack of character arc for the daughter was rather disengaging. Even so, this is a visually fantastic piece of cinema that shows the potential beauty of the animated medium.

saoatama Father and Daughter is a great movie. It deeply impressed me without a word. This movie begins with a scene where a young man and his small daughter head for a cliff by bicycle. There are a small boat below the cliff. The father leaves a little girl there, and rowes for the horizon. After that she comes there to expect her father for life. Although all scenes are set in this cliff, you see how went on her lifetime. All she did in this film is riding a bycicle and stoping. But she sometimes brought her friends there, sometimes her boyfriend, and sometimes her son. I wonder if she is happy. Even she has many friends and her own family, she must feel lonely. She could not give up a empty hope that her father would be back someday. Because she is too young to understand why he leaves. And music is amazing. The piano sound added sadness. Everyone should see it and be amazed how beautiful and immortal a love of father and daughter is.

shojijason I thought this film was very sad and creative and well matched in music. The film doesn't give much information so first, I didn't know what was happening in the film and it was hard to understand it. But I thought it's better not having much information at first so we can think about what's happening. So, this film made me very emotional because I thought if I was the daughter it's very sad to not live with our loved ones. I felt the film's music made it a very emotional film. It really matches the film and shows the emotions very effectively. After watching the film I thought how happy I can be living with my family every day. The film's ending was very interesting because it doesn't make it clear what's going to happen afterwards.

yh8585 This is one of the most touching movies I have ever seen. the eternal love between father and daughter is well expressed in this movie. It seems that the adverse weather conditions reflect her inner world. In spite of poor weather, she visits again the place st the cliff to wait her father's return, for example. I think riding in the bad weather emphasize everlasting true love for her father, I was very impressed with the last bit of the story. Musics in this movie is also so touching and beautiful.We can't know why her father had to go, where he had gone in detail.There is no explanation. I think that this fire our imagination all the better because this movie is a type of a movie with body movements and an expression and music, not dialogue. The reason why her father disappeared depend on our imagination. This is very interesting if you watch this movie, you will never forget this story.
