Best movie ever!

It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

Realizing that their daughter's strange behavior is being brought about by a demonic possession, a family hires their troubled priest brother-in-law to perform an exorcism that should drive the being out. There's a lot to like with this one as it manages to get a lot right in here. One of the film's better examples of this is that this manages to contain all the necessary ingredients for the possession early on, practically in the first few minutes. The early signs here, from her cutting herself, hearing voices and vomiting really make sure that what's on display being nothing more than typical adolescent behavior, which really makes this stand-out by virtue of her drug use and scandalous behavior around her friends, is perhaps why this works so well. It's not until the psychologist interview that any sign of what's happening becomes remotely supernatural, and the clincher of her kitchen levitation being quite an effectively chilling scene sets things in motion really sells this idea nicely and continues the parts of her being overwhelmed by what's going on. As the scenes showing her possession are a great deal of fun, with these being brought along here as well as her crazed behavior, unnatural antics and bodily distortions give this a pretty creepy feel which makes this just fly right by. The quick pace is for the most part a major feature here at injecting this with some energy and momentum that lets this one get into its main selling point in the fact that the exorcism scenes are quite extensive and really fun. They follow through the usual motives here with the distorted eyes, constant swearing, hysterical screaming and burnt flesh that tends to crop up in nearly all of these types of scenes but they still come off a lot of fun and incredibly well, especially once it gets to the later half where it begins again in a far more lengthy, involved sequence that really gets all the usual fun associated for these kinds of scenes. It mixes in plenty of good here with the possessed being out and about in the room instead of being strapped down, which is all the more action-packed with the wrestling around the room, mentally- controlled objects flying around and even the demonic doppelganger getting involved here due to that. Despite this, there's a small facet that holds this one back which is the fact that it stumbles a bit in the last half with an overwrought guilty-conscience/ulterior motive plot- twist that come out of nowhere that inexplicably drags out the final exorcism over the course of several days in several sessions without the use of further help or outside influences, holding up the pace here somewhat that was built quite well in the early part of this. Still, it's one of the few recent-vintage British-themed horror films that hasn't been a complete waste of time.Rated R: Graphic Language, Violence, drug use and the off-screen death of a child.

The movie started off with your pretty usual exorcism fare, which has gotten pretty old these days. Then, about three quarters of the way in, the movie takes a twist and tanks big time. Come on, can anyone write anymore? The move also drags on, and on. This movie could easily have run for half it's length and no worse off because of it. The reason for the possession is ridiculous, the exorcism (what little you see of it) is also ridiculous, and the ending was non-climatic.Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money on this flick unless you have nothing else to do and can rent it for $1.20 on Redbox. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed.

'Exorcismus' is another very typical exorcism movie, a girl gets possessed, acts a bit strangely and then people start dying. However the twist at the end manages to separate it somewhat from the others. The acting of a couple of members of the family is a little to be desired and the camera-work can seem a little like a teenager with a hand-held but for the budget it does what it needs to.Overall it's another case of where the trailer is far more interesting than the film itself but if this is your type of movie, it's worth watching as a rental.4/10

According to IMDb, I wasted 98mins of my life for this cinematic, genre-sullying piece of drivel. Best suited for audiences who enjoy: 1. Horror movies that are both dumb and annoying 2. Watching terrible acting at its finest 3. Scary movies that aren't scary so they can savour the irony.4. 'Simple' movies post lobotomy operation. In terms of possession movies, the original Exorcist is still the best - by a long shot. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (7/10), and more recently, The Last Exorcism (also 7/10) are better choices.
