Embun Audience Reviews

XoWizIama Excellent adaptation.
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Lucia Ayala It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
SecretAffair this movie got a good directing and well performance by all the cast. i watch this movie for the world movie festival in malaysia, this movie about a girl Embun(Umi Aida) been raped by Japanese soldiers and her courage to fight back for her freedom and all people in Malaya. this is not based on true story but they make it better than Left.Adnan for this movie i gave it 6/10
izyan firstly, if by watching this movie you expect to see a lot on the japanese occupation, i'd advise you against it. However, if you're keen to know whether or not the Malaysian Film industry has progressed, then by all means, take a seat. the movie revolves wholly on the title character, Embun, who lives with her brother, a malay activist, and her parents. Umie Aida carries the role with perfection, albeit the occasional flaws in her Utara accent. her brother, Bayu, played by Hani Mohsin, goes boldly against the Japanese, demanding the malay rights and broken promises once used by the Japanese when the Brits were still around. However, Bayu gets caught, thus the story begins, of Embun trying to save Bayu from captivity, fighting for her nation on the way. Heart-wrenching is the death of Embun's father, played by Rahim Razali, who is killed by the Japs on his way to plead for Bayu's life. Khatijah Tan also plays an excellent mother to the two, make-up and all really convincing.a bit on the comedic sight was Izi Yahya as Akichi, the bad jap.his antics could make you roar with laughter yet feel like murdering him at the same time, especially the facial expressions. Akasha's role as Koichi was rather illogical, though. a Japanese speaking perfect Indonesian? and at that time of the year too?overall the movie was very entertaining, mostly thanks to the credible cast. a big clap on the back for Erma Fatima, who never fails to go one step further with each movie she makes!
