The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

I just caught this awful movie on the Sundance Channel, and this is exactly the kind of awful, awful movies that give Sundance a bad name. What would possess the filmmakers to shoot this with a homevideo camera, not light it and generally make a mockery of the very concept of film is beyond comprehension. Why would Naomi Watts waste her time on this amateurish gibberish? Who knows? She certainly didn't do herself any good. Her acting is usually quite flimsy and without a professional movie to fall back on, she is as uninteresting as it gets.Don't waste your time.

This movie made me like Naomi Watts. I've never appreciated her acting or her as at all in movies, but she is extremely likable in this one. The movie really okay, with not much of an ending. What continually ruined it for me though was the crappy music (and I'm not talking about the awkward dogstar cameo). The soundtrack sounded like it was from The Worst of Seattle Circa 1995. It took me out of the movie every single time that crap started up because all I could think about was what bad taste the music director had. If you're going to shoot all dogmaish, then you should have some great music, ambient music or none at all. And the techno music was just painful.

This film is about an actress called Ellie Parker, who has to go to various auditions to find work. This film examines the life of wannabe actors before making it big. There are a lot of frustrating times, such as the people auditioning the actors are too drunk or too stoned to notice your effort. However, it pays to be patient! The low budget hurts the film by not having extravagant sets or special effects. Fortunately, it is compensated by Naomi Watts' superb acting skills. The film basically becomes her own one-man film, with her having to carry the whole film all the way. As a result, Naomi Watts is able to showcase her acting talents. She pulls every single expression people can think of, and displays all sorts of emotions within 90 minutes. It is very impressive indeed! This film becomes the portfolio of Naomi Watts' acting skills. if anyone is unconvinced of her acting skills, watch this and you will be indisputably convinced.

As much as I like Naomi, I found extremely hard to follow this movie. It seemed to be filmed with a video camera you buy from your favorite electronics store and it followed Naomi's character relentlessly, with jerky movements, from all her endeavors to become an actress to more private moments such as being in the bathroom. I am not too sure if the director tried to give the movie an air of reality show, but the camera didn't give any space and the screen seemed to be suffocating. This movie looks like a movie made by a kid who just got his camera as a birthday present, takes the camera, strolls in the city and films anything that moves with the pretentious claim that it is worth. Well, after half an hour I couldn't stand it anymore. So, save your money...
