Elipsis Audience Reviews

Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
rmarinone Finally something different and bold comes from South America. Elipsis is a puzzle that once you start playing with it, you want to complete it to see the big picture. This is a phenomenal feature debut from Arias-Nath whom I congratulate all the way from Mexico for taking such a big risk and offering a new voice to the film world. In addition to Arias-Nath's lyrical and comfortable direction, kudos must be given to the DP and the Art Director as well. I must say I also enjoyed the score very much. The colors are vibrant in this picture, contrasting the dark places the characters visit. Very cool. Edgar Ramirez (who's about to pop in Hollywood with The Bourne Ultimatum) does an amazing job in this film. Especially at the end, which unfortunately I can't reveal because if not, I will be giving out spoilers for no reason. The other lead, Erich Wildpret, is simply amazing. This actor has a bright future. The rest of the cast was very enjoyable, with Seu Jorge at the top of the list. What a presence this guy has. From Mexico I salute Arias-Nath and his hard-working team for revamping the Venezuelan cinema that is in desperate need of a face-lift. Great film. I want to see what Arias-Nath is working on next.
tridamiani Elipsis is not the typical Latin American film. This one takes you to unexpected places. I loved the script. Very tight. I loved the transitions between scenes. Very smooth. I loved the direction. Arias-Nath does something wonderful in this film. He lets the scenes breathe with silence and lets the actors do the rest with their bodies. Great job. There's a particular rhythm in the first 2/3 of the film that makes it very romantic and relaxing. The last third of the film breaks with this and puts everybody at the edge of their seat. Great suspense. Lots of nail-biting. I highly recommend this film. And by the way, Venezuelan women are HOT.
Diego M Don't waste your time on this one. Clever advertising and $$$ couldn't save this from being one of the biggest flops in the history of Venezuelan cinema. It has a weak script, bad acting and although it was beautifully filmed on HD, the movie looks like a Tide commercial. I gave it two stars just because Seu Jorge is in the movie. I find it incredible that people rate this with 10 stars. Is this really the best movie you have seen? Now I understand why Venezuelan cinema can be so mediocre, the lack of self criticism is incredible..... I f you want to see good Venezuelan films, watch El pez que fuma and Araya. Stay away from the rest.
aleramaga I'm not accustomed to writing Internet comments, but after seeing this film in Mexico, I feel compelled to do so. The premise of the story lies on the relationship of two central characters that are brought together by the consequences of their choices. Their achievements and shortcomings shape the plot. Interesting, as this may seem, much of the story is lost in the inconsistencies of the script and the lack of film criteria. Only one performance stands tall in the aftermath, and that is Erich Wildpret's. It takes a great actor to survive such circumstances (poor script, poor directing, poor editing). To acknowledge this fact is the main reason for writing this comment.
