TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Dana
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

To have the opportunity to continue the hilariousness that is of LLoyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, and completely butcher it, making them not DUMB anymore, but full-blown retarded...I mean...what a shame. What a DAMN shame!Had this been made in the 90s...it may have been better. But, humor has changed over the last 20 years. Nobody thinks subtleties are funny anymore. Today, you have to be almost absolutely foul in order to get a chuckle. And it hurts characters like these guys, because they weren't meant to be foul. They were meant to be simple. And it worked back then! But now? Not so much. Simple is no longer funny. Simple makes you have to think...and nobody likes thinking anymore. If it's not in your face offensive, it's not hilarious! Desensitization is to blame here.Seriously what were they thinking, though...not knowing what "sex" is? Not knowing how human reproduction works? And lets talk about how slipping back into character was a complete FAIL for Daniels, but easy peasy for Carey. It was so obvious that it was painful to watch! Talk about a real struggle. This character MADE Daniels...but jumping back into him proved to be a impossible task. It was as if Daniels was trying to jump into the character of Harry of when he was a teen, played by Derek Richardson in Dumb and Dumberer- (another terrible movie). You directors had the world and you crushed it. What a shame. What a damn...shame....

I won't get into all of the details of why this movie is so bad, others have done that. I wanted to like this, the first was so bad it was good. Unfortunately "humor" these days is rarely humorous and this movie is no different. The biggest disappointment is that anyone would think the scene with the poor dog is funny. Bestiality, even just implied, is NEVER funny and should never be mainstream, shame on Hollywood for thinking that's okay. It was disgusting and for this reason alone you should avoid this movie.

Dumb And Dumber is my favourite comedy of all time, it told the story of two dimwits named Harry and Lloyd who travel across the country to deliver a briefcase with money in to a girl Lloyd fell over heels in love with, all whilst being pursued by thugs who wanted the money themselves. there was a prequel in 2003 but the less said about that, the better. but when it was announced in 2013 that a sequel was in development, I was excited but when I eventually saw it, boy was I disappointed.Harry and Lloyd reunite to again travel across the country to get a kidney from Harrys supposed long lost daughter Penny, who Lloyd has a crush on, whilst annoying any normal person on the way. their characters are botched in this film, turning them from good hearted yet highly unintelligent grown men, to bullying pranksters who cause so much trouble, you don't root for them as you did originally.Another problem is they rehash jokes from the original and dumb them down a lot, (Weird Outfits, Lloyds daydream about killing baddies to impress his crush, strange cars, and having a henchman riding with them.) overall it just comes off as a cheap re hash of the original. As with a lot of Adam Sandlers recent movies, the same brand of humour that The Farrelly Brothers made us crack up at in the original, are lost here.

the only problem is it was really poorly edited and just needed a little more fine tuning to make it most faithful to the masterful editing job of the theatrical original, like trimming of unnecessary inessential dragged out dialogue including misogyny and mean- spiritedness (notably stand out parts that make Lloyd look uncharacteristically cold-hearted/self-serving), among other things that were just completely unnecessary and stuck out like a sore thumb. The way it was released it really sort of felt like a love letter to the unrated version of the original. All edits I picked up from examination I think would make it best/most faithful to the original: -I would reinsert the full catheter gag, I thought it was hilarious and added a nice touch of comedic impact to the whole 20 year joke and without it ended kind of abruptly. -Omit the whole bit about smoking and drinking during pregnancy, after "What, that's just an old wives tale." straight to "Whatever doesn't matter Billy's over the whole Petey thing" -Omit "So what's this serious medical problem you've been blabbin about, and it better be good." -After "No way, really?" cut right to "There's waiting lists, lots and lots of forms to fill out and if I can't find another kidney real soon I'm dead meat." splice back in "Wow." then cut to Harry reaching his sore back. -When they get to Harry's parents house after Harry climbs off the bike omit the whole dialog exchange and cut right to them walking up to the door. -After Harry opens his mouth in shock omit Lloyd saying ouch and pantomiming stabbing/lynching and go right to "Dad, what you saying?!" then after "Sorry Harry, we thought you know." straight to "Don't be glum Har, all this means is that your real parents are out there somewhere and I will go to the ends of the earth" then right after "Real parents dead." splice back in "Wow, what a nut punch." then cut to them leaving. -Omit the Arizona State part and fix it so Harry says "Huh junk mail junk mail... oh look at this it's a post card from Freida Felcher." -Omit the whole subtle/gnat exchange, after "Oh OK." straight to the next scene of them on the bike. -After Lloyd tosses the banana peel into the coffin cut right to "Here's a picture I found of my daughter online." then after Rundgren's theme omit Lloyd relenting and go right to them chortling as Lloyd says "Hold on, you wrote her a letter you must know where she lives." -When they get to the wrong address of Freida's house omit the whole exterior and cut to the knocking on the door before they get out of the car. -After "Oxford Maryland huh, so that's where my little girl's been livin all these years." omit the giant nutcracker and just show Lloyd smiling and settling back in the seat then after "Boy, I sure wish I could have been there for her when she was little." cut right to him looking down picking up the picture and going into his dream sequence. -At the motel after Lloyd flips off the TV omit the whole dialog exchange and go right to "OH CRAP, we gotta get back to Providence!" -When Penny leaves for the conference cut to the next scene at the gas station before it shows the package and cell phone. -Omit "It's sort of a medical emergency that we find her as long as she doesn't have aids." -After "Uh nothing she just never mentioned it." splice in a quick shot of the package and Penny's phone (omitting the whole cell phone gag) and go right to "Oh oh no, oh no no no no no this is awful she forgot the package." -After "Our word is our bond." omit the "james bond" and them riding the decoy and just go straight to the next part of them on the road with Travis. -Omit the snot bubble and fix it so Travis says "Well what about your wives, any girlfriends?" -As Dr. Meldman leads them in omit the part of him questioning Lloyd then after he excuses himself to fetch Dr. Walcott omit the whole doctor joke and just show him walking away and after Lloyd says "Well at least we're in the door." cut right to inside the reception, then after Ms. Sourpuss serves them the snacks and beers omit the whole butt fluid finger licking and Lloyd saying "I like it allot" (it really just felt contrived) and just cut to them munching right before Dr. Meldman returns with Dr. Walcott. -When Dr. Dilbeck confronts them omit "Holy crap, did that come from you?" and "I'm reading his mind -I'm picking it up too -Mmm hmm" and after Dr. Garabedian runs off stage and the crowd reacts omit everything up until Lloyd's breath in as he says "Hey this is great, we're learning so much about dark matter." -After "What, well how come you get to meet her before I do?" straight to "Wait a minute I know what you're up to mister" -Omit the "james bond" after "I think he wanted us to have a chance to bond." -After Adele gushes "Just get back here!!" cut right to the restaurant with Lloyd and Penny and put the nanobot in place of the peanut butter flashback. -Omit "Oh uh how you doin sugar t*ts I missed ya."
