An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

My friends who are pot heads recommended this film to explain why I shouldn't look down on their pot use when I drink alcohol and after seeing this documentary I have to admit I was wrong about a long of assumptions I had been making when it comes to drug use. I had no idea alcohol was so harmful. When the film shows the comparisons between the drugs harms so graphically you really do stop and ask yourself what's going on here? Surely if they legalise cannabis we'd have a lot less drinking deaths and carnage and a lot more revenue? This is one film that has got to be watched by middle New Zealand, they have to know the truth!! Well done! Easy ten stars!

This film gripped me from the opening to closing frame! The historical perspectives it gives are mind blowing! I had no idea about Mother Mary Aubert, or Elvis and Nixon, or the true origins of cannabis prohibition until I watched this film. As a casual marijuana user I know there is nothing really harmful about marijuana, but to see how much good it can do people in the medical section of the film was a real surprise. Then you see how it compares with alcohol, tobacco and pharmaceuticals - wow! People need to watch this to become educated on this subject. This film needs to be seen by every Kiwi! What a great effort! Support local talent by downloading this film! Ten stars!

Blown away here, it's a brilliant film. I would love so many people to hear what Druglawed has to say. What so many of us want acknowledgement for - that the prohibition of Cannabis is so very wrong. It's a medicine that many use without the rest of the world knowing. It's a medicine for mind, body, soul - it eases pain, kills cancer (i KNOW it does). I expect many of my friends have noticed my gratitude and appreciation for Mamma Medicine. I talk (online and on the phone) with many people who have cancer - other illnesses too - and want to find a source of Cannabis Oil (often called Rick Simpson Oil), can i help? It's heartbreaking to know that there are people who are willing to produce the oil, so risk jail ultimately, for providing medicine that they send to people. They can't keep up with the - i nearly said "demand" - but it's not a demand, it's a need. I can't explain scientifically, i just know that it works! (Changes in lifestyle will help in many cases too.) Because it's illegal it has such a different energy - watch the film, it pulls together the whole story so beautifully. My only "niggle" for many years has been "Cannabis isn't a drug - it's way more than a drug, it's so insulting to a wonderful plant to call it a drug!" So Druglawed is a perfect name for an awesome film <3

Druglawed is the most comprehensive and up to date documentary investigating New Zealand's role and history regarding cannabis prohibition and the USA's global war on drugs.Extremely well produced and skilfully edited, this movie clearly and comprehensively covers the entire NZ cannabis story, starting with the cannabis based medicines of Mother Mary Joseph (Suzanne Aubert) all the way through the lies and deceit that initiated prohibition, up to the current day. This movies makes it very clear that drug prohibition is an absolute failure as a policy. Yet, prohibition continues to destroy lives for no good reason.Filmed over a period of more than four years, edited together from hundreds of hours of interviews and law reform protests, this documentary illuminates the activist and law reformer side of this struggle, a side of the story that the NZ news media constantly fails to report. However, don't be mistaken into thinking this is simply a documentary made by activists, for activists. Druglawed should be viewed by absolutely everyone in order to fully comprehend the senseless waste of continuing with the failed war on drugs.Druglawed is one of the best documentaries I have viewed on this subject ever, easily as good as other drug war documentaries I have viewed from elsewhere in the world.Druglawed is the best full length New Zealand documentary you will see in 2015.
