It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

JOURNEY TO DINOSAUR ISLAND is a tiny-budgeted kid's adventure movie from Australia. The script is pedestrian and the story nothing more than a mish mash of previous genre staples and the like; the main thing is to get a couple of kids and have them interacting with various kinds of dinosaur, all of which have a uniform green/blue look. The CGI effects aren't quite as terrible as I had feared - they're better than in your average Asylum movie, for example - but they're still pretty poor, although not as poor as the terrible acting from the child leads.

The script was awful, The acting was bad, The VFX is OK, could have been better.there were awkward moments/acting all through out the movie, unrealistic situations/reactions, and I guess the director is not yet ready for this kind of ambitious project, I'm just sad that the line " A kid's Film" being used into an alibi for making a bad movie.and not to mention it a full-feature film and been shown if Theaters with a production budget. The Theatrical Poster was good though, it fooled me thinking it was a good movie.

My family watched this movie together and enjoyed it a lot. For the budget they had I give the effort a solid 10. The special effects and CGI are actually pretty good (again for the budget level). The acting is kids TV show level, but hey what do you expect? The kids in the movie have fun with it and do a decent job. The dinosaurs were creatively modeled and decorated, a nice departure from the usual rendering of dinosaurs in most movies. There was always some interesting action going on and the story was actually quite creative. My wife and I discussed the movie after wards and agreed that there was more story and creativity here than top-tier movies like Jurassic World and Avatar. I was surprised by the number of 1 star reviews, but those people are obviously comparing it to big Hollywood films. If you can get past unrealistic expectations you'll actually have fun with this movie.

I'm reading a lot of reviews claiming that this is the "worst film ever". It's not. There are easily two or three worse films. The problem for this film is that it sells itself as a serious piece of dinosaur-themed sci-fi, as if going head-to-head with the JP franchise is something easily achieved. Unfortunately, we're now judging it against a tough set of criteria, and this film was never going to pull it off.In short, the acting is poor, the story is dull and the daft sci-fi approach doesn't gel with the scientific approach. The CGI isn't utterly terrible, but they overstretch themselves. There has been some effort to update dinosaur and pterosaur portrayals, but overall, they're flippin' awful. The 'azhdarchid', or whatever it is, is unbelievably bad. Seriously. See if it's on Youtube so that you don't have to sit through the whole thing. The tyrannosaur stands around yelling at everything, and only when everything is already half a mile away does it give chase.Your kids might like it, but just make sure you're not stuck watching it with them.
