Overrated and overhyped

Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

Detention has Dolph Lundgren former army ranger and now history and gym
teacher getting stuck with supervising Detention on his last day of school.
Lundgren is kind of disillusioned with teaching and surely babysitting for some
of the worst motivated kids in his school is one find sendoff. However on this day after 3:00 pm the school figures prominently in the plans
of Alex Karzis and his gang of criminal misfits to pull off a robbery of drugs
confiscated by the police. There's even crooked cops in on it.Between Lundgren's kids and Karzis's gang it's quite the struggle. The whole
scheme is something you might find in a Mel Brooks film and in the case of
Karzis he never figured some folks would be staying after school or it would be
someone like Lundgren. It's like an episode of the old A-Team series. In the spirit of that old show, you might enjoy this rather goofy film.

This movie is not worth of writing a review about. This is just to warn you before you somehow sit to watch it.I can understand some poor chaps put some money together to burn for making a rubbish movie. Everybody is entitled to do that. What I don't understand is what the hell Dolph Lundgren is doing in such a low quality movie? There seems to be no director assigned to this movie. My guess is the cameraman both shoot and directed the film. There is no script so they made the movie just improvising on the set.Forget about the stupid plot, worst unknown actors, non existent directing. One thing annoyed me in this movie a lot: There are four bad guys with semi automatic weapons and unlimited ammunition. Yet they are unable to shoot anybody from 20 feet distance. What the hell? If you see this movies cover or DVD just call 911 for emergency.

Cheezy action movie starring Dolph Lungren. Lungren is a one time military man who has retreated into a teaching job. But the changes in the neighborhood and the student body have left him frustrated and he decides that he?s going to hang it up. Things get dicey when while watching over a bunch of students in detention some robbers take over the school as a base of operation for an armored car robbery. Its Dolph versus the baddies in a fight to the death. Jaw dropping throw back to the exploitation films of the late grindhouse era where bad guys dressed as punks and some of the bad women had day glow hair. What a stupid movie. Watchable in a I can?t believe people made this sort of way, this is an action film that was probably doomed from the get go before the low budget, fake breakaway sets and poor action direction were even a twinkle in a producers eye. Watch how late in the film as cars drive through the school (don?t ask) they crash into the security turret (don?t ask since it looks more like a prison then a high school) and smash its barely constructed form apart(it doesn't look like it did in earlier shots). What hath the gods of bad movies wrought? Actually I?m perplexed since this was directed (?) by Sydney J Furie, a really good director who made films like The Boys in Company C. Has his ability failed him, or was this hopeless from the get go and he didn't even bother? It?s a turkey. A watchable one but a turkey none the less.

When I saw Dolph Lundgren in "Masters of the Universe" I figured that was bad acting in itself. I was wrong..very wrong! The movie "Detention" was the worst I've ever seen since "Atomic Train"! Why, you ask? It has more clichés than an air disaster film on Lifetime, Okay! And why would terrorists attack a high school to go after this one guy? Please! It would've made a hell of a lot more sense to have ex-convicts and gang bangers hunt him down! See what happens when you let morons direct your movies. Spoilers Ahead!!! The action sequences are beyond the realm of sub-par...even by $3.99 straight-to-video, "MSTK 3000" standards. What I really don't get when one of the students rams a car down the hallway through a wall of lockers. Why? What f@#king possible purpose does that serve...does it kill one of the bad guys? No! Does it stop the bomb that is in the Boiler room? No! It seems that he did it just for the hell of it! And speaking of bombs, the rest of the students are in the basement with the bomb trying to disarm it when all they had to do was press a button! A god damn button on the remote? ARRGGGGHHHH! Who would put a disarming button a remote? I never saw that in any suspense action movie...ever! I mean this puts Van Damme movies to shame and even they had more to offer than this. Don't get me stared on the characters, oh please!!!! Talk about stereotypes! The terrorist or wannabe terrorists are stereotypical rejects from a "Hot Topic" ad! Yeah, all bad guys must be young crazy bastards from hell complete with spiky, blue, or pink hair while wearing some all black punk-rock get-up not-to-mention with black nail polish! The Columbine Killer shtick isn't working all right! So everyone who dresses like this is bad news and up to no good right, Mr. Director? Not only are the terrorists clichéd stereotypes but the hero and is sidekicks as well. You got the chiseled blonde "Superman/Rambo/Schwartzenegger-type main character armed to boot. Then, you have the "usual" detention fodder: The two black guys, one in athletic wear, a teen mother-to-be(oh a real felon, here), and a rebel. The only character that isn't a "usual suspect" but a token a kid in a wheelchair. Then, you have the helpless beautiful blonde white girls one that was locked in a police car's trunk and the wife of our hero, typical damsels in distress. What was this sh*t-for-brains director on during the making of this movie? 10.5 made more sense than this insult to celluloid! Hints to the director: "Find a new career!"
