DeadHeads Audience Reviews

SunnyHello Nice effects though.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
suite92 This zombie film starts after zombies are present in large numbers. The two lead characters, Mike and Brent, are somehow intermediate: they show signs of death and decay, but they can speak, think, enjoy beer, enjoy food, and make plans about the future. Mike finds an engagement ring in his pocket. He remembers Ellie, his fiancé. Brent proclaims they should go find her; nothing is stronger than love, after all.Mike and Brent are about to head off for Michigan from Colorado when the full-blown zombies attack the bar where they were having dinner. They pick up Cheese along the way. Cliff (zero percent zombie) gives them a ride; he's intending to go to Lake Michigan to spread his wife's ashes. The cause of the zombie problem is a chemical spill. Someone or another decides to quarantine the area. The quarantine team consists entirely of idiots and incompetents. Cliff blows past the quarantine, but sleep is a problem; they let Cheese drive, and they run out of gas. The subsequent 'camping' in the woods is a ghost story fest, aided by weed. Mike works on his speech to Ellie, and Cheese kills a cop who shot Brent twice. They use the cop's gas to continue. The vignette with the horror films at the drive-in was an interesting touch. The quarantine group recruits an escaped convict, Thomas, who likes to kill zombies. They get captured, but Cheese breaks them out. The scene with Mike being dragged for a few football fields was not all that funny. Cliff makes it to the shore of Lake Michigan, but he has already run out of his heart medicine, and dies watching the waves. They make it to Mike's house, and Mike remembers that Ellie's father killed him in that same house. The reality of meeting Ellie comes to pass; their ten year reunion is that night, so he goes to it, so he can tell her how he feels. He puts on a mascot costume, and talks to Ellie. The authorities drag him off; the next day, Ellie's father has a few more laughs at Michael's expense.Thomas changes his mind, and decides to help Michael. Michael makes it to Ellie's house, but the chief idiot of the quarantine squad catches up.What could possibly go wrong?------Scores------Cinematography: 9/10 Nice.Sound: 10/10 Excellent.Acting: 7/10 Could have been better.Screenplay: 8/10 There were several funny moments, which is more than I can say for most films labeled comedy. The story hung together, once one suspends disbelief about smart zombies.
KineticSeoul The intro makes it seem promising with the grindhouse vibe going for it sorta but it turned out pretty good. This isn't a amazing zombie movie but it's watchable. It's basically about a guy waking up to find out he is a zombie but unlike other zombies he is intelligent and has human conscience and is basically a good zombie cause he doesn't kill people. And randomly meets another zombie that has the mind of a human as well. And it turns out as a zombies on the road trip movie with two unexpected friends Mike and Brent on a journey to find a girl that one of them is head over heels for. Because out of 6 billion people he thinks she is his only soul-mate. And has a old guy and a zombie with zombie mentality and has attributes of the Frankenstein monster following them around. So they are the good guys...Well sorta and the humans that are trying to hunt them are the bad guys...Sorta. So it's a interesting take on this genre and you can tell they put quite a effort into this straight to DVD zombie flick. Even if it does have some plot holes and doesn't make much sense sometimes. For instance the zombie Frankenstein that is tagging along doesn't even try to eat the old guy. They are zombies and yet they smoke pot. You can see them breathing although they are zombies. One of the zombie guy that has the human mind wears glasses without any lenses although he isn't a hipster. And at the end the protagonist who has a zombie body lets his girlfriend kiss him although he can contaminate her and turn her into a zombie. Just to name a few things that doesn't make sense about this movie. The acting in this movie isn't awful but it's far from good, but I guess that somewhat makes this flick humorous a bit. The dialogue isn't well written and can be pretty darn cheesy and childish. If they used the two zombies that still has the intellect of humans and incorporate it into the movie in a clever and creative way it would have really upgraded this movie. But they are on the run from humans that are trying to hunt them and that is basically the only thing the play the fact that the two main characters are zombies upon. Because there is certainly plenty of ways they could have incorporated them being zombies and all and use it to accomplish certain tasks and stuff. If this had a bit of a higher budget and used it for better cinematography and added more cool stuff going on. Incorporated the two zombie buddies with the intellect of humans and used it in a clever and witty manner and did a better job with the dialogue. It could have made it into the theater. Overall it's a alright movie but wanted a bit more humor. It's nowhere near as good as "Shaun of the Dead" but it's a watchable flick.5.8/10
HorrorOverEverything Its very rare that you come across a Horror/Comedy film with a decent budget and good actors, its even more rare to come across one that is fresh and original. "Deadheads" has all that and more. The story is something pretty new that hasn't ever really been done this well before. It moves a long at a very nice pace and it definitely didn't contain any dull moments. There were plenty of laugh out loud scenes and the gore was a nice touch. The ending was very unbelievable and over the top but that was easily forgivable since the film was so good. The acting was surprisingly very good, some of the characters were a little corny but it was obvious that they set out to make them that way. Cheese stole the show!"DeadHeads" is a hilarious Horror/Comedy that deserves a lot of credit. The best Horror/Comedy since Shaun Of The Dead. 9/10
Joe Hedges Deadheads is both a zombie movie and a love story about two zombies who go on a cross-country road trip to reconnect with a girlfriend from their waking life. It is far better than one might expect from the premise.I am not particularly interested in zombie movies so I was pleased to find that Deadheads had characters with very human motivations; several times during the film I found myself caring for Michael McKiddy's character, despite his zombie appearance. One great thing about the film is its self-awareness. The directors, and actors know they are making a zombie love story, and they embrace the ridiculousness of that fact completely. The movie is all about fun--there are many pop-culture references, references to other movies, and a lot of extremely vulgar humor and absurd situations that could only happen in an independent film. There is however, just enough sentimentality to keep it human and down to earth. In other words, if you make your girlfriend watch only one zombie movie this year, make this the one--it has enough echoes of romantic comedy to appeal to a larger audience. With that said, I am confident I am the target demographic: a male who grew up loving 80's movies. There are several scenes that seem a little too long but overall the pacing is good, the action is exciting, and the length felt right. Deadheads is not going to change the world. But if you have an interest in humor, gore, and want to be entertained for an hour and a half it is worth your time.
