Dark Was the Night Audience Reviews

Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Forumrxes Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
aarminaj Seriously??? what did i just watch..?? Dark was the night is billed as a monster/ creature Horror. All we get to see is some drag screen play with countless drama and the main character played by Kevin Durrand as the Sheriff is in continuous denial that something is actually happening in his small town. The movie drags and drags from frame one itself , we are made to believe that their is some creature who lost his previous territory & comes to this new town , killing wildlife and stock. People get hysterical when all this happens and all we see and hear instead is background forest rumbling noises, countless dialogues for more than an hour and 15 mins, and when the turn to show the supposed creature comes up, gosh what did i just see, a creature with dinosaur legs and a face like godzilla!! And its not all if you manage to sit through this drag you have a climax actually taking place at a Church. Guys i cant even say sit through this cause you just wont be able to. But if someone still doesn't want to heed my sincere advice , watch it if you can. But I would say only one thing please give me back my 1hr and 40 mins. The 3 stars is for the time and effort the director and crew tried putting in this, cause i appreciate the whole process of making movies and trust me that is no joke.
begob A small town sheriff must overcome a family tragedy to defend the townsfolk from a fearsome beast that stalks the woods.Simple, over-earnest creature feature. It starts interesting, with good camera work, a frosty tint to the images, and a gory killing that launches us into action. Then we focus on the hero's personal problems, and eventually the pace slackens to a gloomy crawl as he works out his unremarkable psychological block. It's not the actors fault, and the rest of the cast is fine, especially the wife who gives good close up - although the climax does have silly shots of a crowd shuffling about the place with nothing to do.The monster is handled well, making its presence known through glimpses here and there, a background growl, and mysterious prints, until the full reveal. But that's the only suspense, and even on the reveal there are implausible fights with something that has been bigged up so much for its speed and ferocity. The main problem is the script - straight as a die with no surprises (apart from a brief twist at the very end). And the dialogue is on the nose and often cringeworthy, with simple values being asserted, and bit parts trying to inject character and romance with little effect.Music was fine.Overall, weak material handled fairly well.
Oisin Fleming Damn I was loving this movie, the first 3/4 were brilliant, the scenes were dark, intense and surprisingly emotive. The acting was solid, the script was solid and the practical effects were solid. The tone and setting of the movie transported me right to scene, the creature build up was Jaws-esque. Then the final 1/4 happened, and it undone almost everything the first parts of the movie had done. It turned into a stupid 'SyFy' channel creature feature right before my bewildered eyes, I don't know why the director felt the need for such a ridiculous Cgi filled finish, because the Cgi was indeed awful, it's a classic example of every new director wanting to jump aboard the Cgi monster hype train which I truly wish came of its tracks a long time ago. I'd still recommend watching 'Dark was the Night' please ignore the ridiculous new title, because it was a great film, but please notice the word 'was' as the final 1/4 of this film is a bigger let down than the Fnatastic Four reboot.
The Couchpotatoes This is the type of movie that you will see once and then forget about it within the week. Nothing special at all about it. It could have been much better if you didn't have to wait until the last two minutes of the movie to see the actual creature / monster. Not that it is a real bad movie or so, but it's just not good enough to watch a second time in the future. The whole movie you hope that you will see the monster and that hell will break loose. But none of this happens and you wonder why. The actors were okay without being sublime or so. If you have absolutely nothing else to watch then it's okay to watch Dark was the night, otherwise just skip it and watch something way better.
